Terrible Scotland

Would add, Hungary were actually worse, it was an absolute must win for them and they didn't make any effort to threaten us til injury time.

Two teams with zero quality in the final third.

Georgia have better players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Another disgrace given the size of their population, the age of the country and the strength of their domestic league in comparison.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Georgia were in our group and we beat them comfortably at home in terrible conditions. We had a tropical downpour which waterlogged the pitch and the game had to be postponed for it to drain, and in which I got facking soaked on the way to Hampden

2-2 in the away game which I didn't see.

Georgia only have 1 point and have Portugal next, so will likely have the same output as Scotland in this tournament. Not sure why they have been brought up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Georgia have been a breath of fresh air. Attacked with pace and bravery. They might be shiiit but they’re at least gonna go home knowing they gave it their all. Scotland just looked happy to be there and even then that might have just been the drugs

They play like England but with shiiite players.

Not a great combo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exactly this really. Equally cowardly and equally worthless at tournament football but with less talent
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet still we are one of only 8 sides in world football who can put a little star on their shirt

Portugal, Holland, Belgium - they can only dream of that

They have played much better than Scotland, far more attacking and have impressed given they were the lowest ranked side at this. 2 legit goals so far also

makes me laugh listening to the media and Scotland fans/players about losing to a sucker punch. Scotland were poor and never looked like winning the game. Hungary were a bit better and did win it. It was hardly an unexpected winning sucker punch goal.

Yeah I’ve got way more respect for Georgia than I have for Scotland in this tournament. They’ve been brave and the players are a credit to their country

The talking up of them pre tournament was absurd and I called it on this site.

People actually had them as dark horses

All because they were half decent in some nation league games when England and Germany really couldn’t give a shaaat.

They are bang average and if they do scrape through in third they will be out to the Portuguese in round 16 without doubt

They are as naive as it gets at this level but don’t give a foook, they just go at sides and they have creativity.

The thing to remember also is that Portugal have already won that group - they might not turn up at all for that last match

Clarke is responsible for our pitiful approach to these games.

Did well in qualifying yet again, but ultimately he’s found out at this level.

Not sure why anyone south of the border is surprised at this, never mind the baiting comments.

Not sure who’ll win this tournament in all honesty. Can’t say there has been one team for me that genuinely stands out as the tournament stick on to win it.

Spain look the standout at the moment, quite comfortably. France will go far as will Germany and Portugal. Austria may surprise a few as well. Would be surprised if England reached the QF in all honesty

For me it was 'more a pen than not', but Armstrong seem more interested in trying to get the pen rather than score. I don't know if he was a touch offside also, but it shouldn't overshadow what was a negative disappointing display from Scot who didn't create much at all.

Hungary were disappointing also. Maybe the occasion got to both teams, but it was like lets just play for a draw until the last 15-20 mins and then go for it.

Shankland showed great energy when he came on and probably deserved more time in all the games. But compared to other teams, Sco looked so negative and lacking ideas. I never liked the approach of let's go for 4 points - settling for a draw against Swi, when they copuld have been more positive towards the end, and having so much of the ball against Hungary and not doing much with it.

Clarke will deflect to the pen decision, but ultimately Sco didn't go for it enough in the last 2 games and whilst the fans will be missed, the team won't in terms of football it produced.

17 shots in total throughout the tournament. Only enough to equal Northern Ireland's total in Euro 2016 as the lowest number of shots since the group stages were introduced.

Having watched last night, I wish we had Robertson in our (England) team. The pen probably was one but like others have said, he kinda stopped and possibly looked for it. Still, I'd be fuming if it happened to England.
I'm not an expert on Scottish Football but imo Adams should have not been in the starting XI. His finishing and composure near goal was abysmal.
Thought McGinn and Gilmore were excellent but ultimately the defence and forward(s) let you down.

Spain and Germany will meet in the quarters if they win their last 16 matches. If France don’t outscore the Dutch in the final game then they will play Portugal in the quarters.

People keep missing this - England got a fantastic draw compared to some of the other nations. If Holland do pip France, our potential route to the final could quite conceivably be Slovakia, Switzerland, Holland

Austria are a worry, they they are our next likely opponent in last 16 instead of Slovakia. I do t think they are better than us - but they are definitely fitter than us currently. I think they would cause us serious problems - fingers crossed that the Dutch stuff them tomorrow - 4-0 would be nice

Not really, our 2021 group was tough - Croatia, Czechs, Scotland. World Cup runners up, 1x winner and 3 x finalist, and Scotland. Then Germany in the rd 16 - plenty of the bigger sides had it easier.

Very rarely does a side play 4 elite sides at a Euros - Spain might this year, potentially France/Holland, that’s it though. Germany are likely to play Spain in the quarters - if they lose that then they will have lost to the first elite side they met - yet people are riding them hard. If Spain lose then the narrative will change to the Italy and Croatian sides actually being poor imitations

Would have worked better if Kane hadn’t done what no Scotland player could and scored in the last match.

Some people really don’t get how piish these group stages are. The real tournament starts next Saturday.

And this is because there are, at a stretch, 8 other nations that the general consensus would consider to be tricky at the euros. Most of them are seeded, so you only get 1, maybe 2 groups of death maximum, out of a possible 6.

Then if you win the group, you usually avoid the other top seeds next round too.

In theory England should only expect a "tough" draw from the QFs onwards, but that's assuming that none of the top seeds struggle.

In short response

It was a penalty. Or should I say it should have been. That aside we played like a bunch of terrified weans who’d just met each other that morning and had been told not to try anything sill like take a risk.

In a must win game. That’s down to the manager. He has to go imo.

We don’t have the belief that we’ll ever be anything but one of the least fancied teams at a tournament and therefore we have no expectations other than having a great trip with mates and hopefully at least giving it our best shot on the pitch.

Last night as in many games under Clarke was embarrassing. Abysmal and unforgivable at the national level.

Him whining about the one penalty incident doesn’t excuse the piiish we have to endure on the pitch, let alone his soor faced fizzer.

Absolutely - 1 group of death and England avoided it - not much of a surprise is it.

Put us in any of those groups at the expense of the other seeded side and we progress. Group B we would get 4 points I reckon, Group D I would say 4/5 points and the rest would be 6 minimum.

It’s hilarious hearing Scottish fans talking about the ease of our routes - that same easy route was open to them in 2021. They had 2 average sides in their group this time and all they could do was talk about how great the Hungarians are - which hasn’t come to pass.

England are in a weird self imposed “turmoil” because we haven’t won 5-0 yet.

I know mate.

And like us you’ve never won the tournament either, although it’s “hilarious” hearing many English fans thinking they are a stick on to win it every time it comes around

Silly football fans eh?
