Gerrard for me. Only man to stop Celtic in the last 15 years
I'd really like Klopp but I doubt he'd go for it.
I think Klopp could be tempted. He says he was burnt out and wanted a break. International management is much less demanding on his time. He likes the UK and knows the league and players. A 2-year contract to take us to WC 2026 could be the perfect job for him before retiring. I would throw 15-20m a year at him.
No to a foreign manager.
Either Howe or Potter I'd be ok with. Both young managers, like Southgate, so may be more in tune with the players, and unlike Gareth, prefer to play football the right way.
There's question marks over them don't get me wrong, but on paper they are better than Southgate who for an average manager I guess didn't do too badly.
Potter is in the same boat as Gerrard for me, both have shown their ideas can work then flopped. Gerrard at least has won things.
Howe would be the best candidate but he's not going to leave Newcastle for England is he?
England need an English manager who has won the English PL. Those should be the two minimum requirements.

I'm not sure I agree with this. Potter won in the Swedish 3rd division so he won in a tougher league than Gerrard did.
Tuchel every day of the week
A German managing the England team though?

Maybe Postecoglou

he's already trying to end our trophy drought he'd be a masochist if he decided to try and give tackling England's a go
Maybe I’m a bit old school, but I honestly don’t see the point of international football unless the managers are of the same nationality. It’s supposed to be nations pitted against each other … that goes out the window if you start appointing foreign managers. Felt the same when Berti Vogts was managing our mob. That kinda leaves Potter as the obvious available choice.
it's not something that really bothers me tbh

Exactly. Managers are if anything the most important members of any football team. So the idea we should hire a really successful coach from another country comes off as cheating almost.
I like the idea of English managers for England but I’d rather just get the best manager available and win something
Don't see Howe or Potter being any better than Southgate.

they're clearly far more modern coaches who can implement a better style of play. Potter got Brighton into the top half and Howe got Newcastle into the champions league. Southgate would be one of the worst managers in the PL if he rocked up
Southgate had very little top level experience when he took the job. Get someone who has experience managing all around the world like Pep/Tuchel/Rooney/Mourinho.

Could they have got us over the line against Italy, or Croatia, or last night? Well I'd argue that the tactics and style wouldn't have been quite so negative for one thing. Pickford probably not hitting as many long hopeless balls up the pitch for the opposition to collect.
I don't like this idea that Southgate is the best we have. He was deemed average on paper when he first got the job and now there's a dismissal of managers who might not be the best either but who are at least on a better footing than Southgate was.
I agree with the results so far that the best two options are Potter and Tuchel, would be disappointed with anyone else

Completely agree. It is supposed to be a national effort. I boycotted Scotland while Vogts was manager.

Uer butt nackwater soccer outpoasts like Togo, Tajikstan n England can bennyfit from propper coachin of foreign guys
Only the big boys really shud halve coaches from there nation so if England think they cud imoroove then goid luck too em
Lee Carsley to come in as assistant to Southgate and then takeover after the world cup.
Tuchel would take all the harmony that Southgate installed in the team and toss it out the window.
couldn't think of a worse choice.
