Klopp is the best manager from that list by a long way, but I can't see him taking it mainly because he wants a break from the game.

I think it's going to be Potter. Wouldn't be a bad appointment, but he's not elite level.

Potter seems the obvious choice. Think elite managers are completely wasted on international management unless it's maybe as a swan song before they retire.

He may or may not be an excellent manager but he's been tarnished by the Chelsea job so hope he gets another chance with England and gets them playing half decent football.

Graham Potter - 2/1
Lee Carsley 7/2
Eddie Howe 5/1
Poch 14/1
Klopp 14/1
Lampard 20/1
...
This is like having to pick your favourite STD. Don't really fancy any of them.

No way Klopp takes the job, he'll hold out for Germany if anything. So I'm not even considering him.

I would rate Howe as a better option than Potter due to his preference of an English core at club level, probably has a better understanding of squad building and man management than others on that list except for Klopp.

The biggest issue is that I can't see some of the (senior) players having any real respect for any on the list (again bar Klopp) due to limited achievements as a manager. Poch and Lampard are absolute jokes when handling big name players and squad management in general and England isn't so easy to manage as it looks (credit to Southgate for at least that part of his job)

How is Lampard even in there 😂

What has Potter done to deserve to be favourite?

Klopp is the dream choice until you realise he's German

Howe is the sensible choice but convincing him to take it would be an uphill task.

Carsley would be the ultimate in lack of ambition.

Lampard talks a good game but ultimately has never been a success in any job he's had. Gerrard would be a better shout but I can't imagine England will pay anywhere near what he's on.

Whoever it is, I hope they are a bottle merchant too.

Wouldn't want Norbert, he won't be managing a team of 13 and dragged along by the officials if in charge of England, and he's German

Southgate.

I don't think we have any better options right now.

The top managers rarely take international jobs these days. Nagelsmann is probably the only international manager likely to get a big club job any time soon.

I’d be shocked if Klopp takes it.

What's xenophobic about wanting an English manager to manage England exactly, in an international competition pitted between countries?

Are you against countries competing against each other then?

That is never xenophobic. Most countries operate on their own nationality basis.

Germany have never had a non national manager as an example let alone appointing their greatest rivals nationality manager.

I suspect it is Carsley as he was so close to being Ireland manager then that all went to pot. I wonder if Carsley knew something.

The list is soul destroying. Tuchel was shambolical last season with Bayern and is too negative tactially. Lampard should be managing League 2. Eddie Howe is poor and negative tactically.

Lee Carsley in with Harry Redknapp to help him perhaps?

I really cant see the likes of Tuchel, Poch or Klopp even being in the frame. I'd probably bet Carsley, or if not then it must be Potter or Lampard surely.

What does your head say? What does your heart say?

more to the point, what does toney say? or has he not looked at the choices?

I say scrap all this nationalist nonsense - lets have teams representing their leagues instead. The team representing the EFL would be fantastic and would probably win the world cup - Harry Kane can play for the Germans

Very much doubt it'll happen but the FA should really be going all out for Klopp before taking to anyone else.

It won't be as strenuous as club football and he can still basically be semi-retired for 8 months of the year.

"Can't have one of the best managers in world football because he's German"
Sorry, that just stinks of xenophobia.
It's somewhat predictable and just what I would expect from BB, but you?

Did you all voice such concerns when Sven was appointed? Or Capello?
