City are a tiny, tinpot club. Of course it's a major trophy to someone like them. They're a smaller club than Celtic ffs.

Oh yeah sorry for being emotionally invested in my football club. Clearly I need to take a long look at my life for caring. In fact why don't we just play behind closed doors again so everyone can re-evaluate their lives?

But Pep himself isn't "tiny" and "tinpot" as a manager, is he?

Mourinho in interviews always includes the Community Shield when referencing trophies won, too. Is he tiny & tinpot? Are the clubs he's managed?

Foreign managers seemingly view the CS as more significant than we do, so it' no surprise that ETH does, too.

Another humiliating sharticle.

Whilst I'm not convinced by ETH, I will give him a chance and he certainly gets my full support, until I have reason to change my mind, but should we all not start off by supporting him this season. I will be more than glad if he proves me wrong.

Not sure what you want him to say before the CS final - hope we get a thrashing to set the tone for the rest of the season??

Pep is paid by his bosses who own the tiny, tinpot club so clearly he is going to push their tiny, tinpot agendas. He's probably coerced into saying it.

If he was to turn round and say 'Look this game is just to kick off the season, it's not a final and it's not a trophy' then he would get in trouble wouldn't he?

If you're convinced by a guy who finished 8th, took us on our worst ever UCL run AND has spent about 400m in the two year's he's been here yet STILL hasn't implemented a style of play...

Then good luck to you

Who remembers the 2009 League Cup final that we won? Or when we retained it in 2010??

Nobody does!

Because back then we were a serious club with a serious manager. Winning the League Cup wasn't even really seen as a major trophy under Fergie, yet now with ETH people want to eat his arris out for winning it in season 1 with the luckiest cup run of all time. Oh and then trophy virgins Newcastle in the final.

Ten Hag out.

I think you need to accept Fergie has gone Culer. Utd were never in for the major trophies that often without him, it really is that simple.

Sure you’d won a European cup and a few leagues over about 100 years but that’s it.

I get that you don't want ETH here. Deep down, I don't think he is the right guy either. But this is the start of a new season and those in charge have backed him. In such circumstances I don't want him to do badly. I want him to prove me wrong.

You seem hellbent on hoping he fails just to say you were right. I don't know if you are genuinely serious or just the ultimate WUM

This is a myth. If we actually managed to get an appointment right post-Fergie then we'd have carried on dominating.

We should've gone for Pep, Jose or even Klopp when Fergie went. Nothing would have changed and we'd probably have about 26/27 titles by now and 5 or more UCL.

It makes me laugh how our 'fans' hide behind the excuse of 'we need to give a manager time' when in reality we just need the right manager.

Giving Ten Hag more time is like refusing to buy more toilet paper when you have a severe case of diarrhea.

It’s not a myth, it’s literally what has happened.

You’ve won major trophies under a grand total of two managers in about 150 years and without Fergie Utd are a hyped up Villa.

Utds biggest problem is its fans expectations.

My biggest issue is that we have world class managers like Tuchel, Poch and Zidane on the market and available NOW yet we aren't doing anything.

It's complacency from INEOS and possibly even negligence. Just you watch... Tuchel, Poch and Zidane will all end up at Juve, Atletico, Milan, City, Liverpool etc etc and we will be stuck with this Dutch fraud.

He has to go.

If we appointed Jose, Pep or Klopp when Fergie went then we would've dominated for the last 10 years. Simple as that.

If City appointed Juande Ramos in 2016 instead of Pep, would they have won what they have won in the last 8 years? If they then sacked Juande Ramos in 2018 and appointed Martin Jol, would they have won everything the way they have done?

No. Because you need the right manager and we haven't had that since Fergie.

Ten Hag out.

Tuchel, Poch or Zidane in and we win the title within 3 years.

Simple as that.

He is world class, yes.

I reckon Liverpool will appoint him when Slot is no doubt potted by Christmas.

Poch is a superb manager.

I'm glad the manager is giving his players no excuse to do any slacking. If we are going to do anything this season training, the CS, and everything else needs to be taken seriously.

So Superb he’s never won a trophy in a major league and has bottler every final he’s ever been in.

I hope Utd get him next.

Na you wouldn't. United's problems run a lot deeper than just appointing the wrong manager. The Glazers as owners, Woodward, crap signings, spending more than City, briefings, counter briefings and leaks from disgruntled employees, players or staff within the club, other clubs modernising stadia and training facilities before United, Old Trafford falling apart.

You get the gist

The Charity Shield is literally just a curtain raiser of a match. It's not a trophy, nor is it a final. The fact that we, Manchester United, now have a manager claiming it as a trophy is pathetic.

Sack him.

He's won the French league though so why doesn't that count? If Ten Hagapologists want to wax lyrical about him winning the Dutch League, why can't Poch be given credit for winning the title with PSG?

For a start the French League is a lot harder and more physical. Also French teams do better in Europe than Dutch sides.

With a proper manager we would have carried on our dominance.

Imagine if we got Pep, Klopp or Jose in 2013 and were backing them all with 200 million a season.

The trophies would have been won on a quarterly basis pretty much.
