----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wasn't intended as a comparison between the players - just Bernado was the first example that sprang to mind of a player who isn't a physical beast but nevertheless meets the athletic requirements of his team (playing with intensity for a whole match) as well as being highly skilled. But I suppose lack of raw pace is less of an issue if your role in the team rarely means dribbling past an opponent or outsprinting a defender to reach a through ball.

I really like Amad. I've just watched last night's game in full and he's been our best player in the all the preseason matches. That may not mean much in isolation, but taken together with his displays for Sunderland and what he'd started to show towards the end of the season (his first real run in the PL), then I have to say I'm quite excited by him.
Technically he's very good, and he's deceptively quick (without being rapid). He looks to be more physically capable than previously and on top of that, he looks like he's got an eye for a pass and clearly has a good shot on him. He's been our main source of both goals and chance creation on tour and he's of course still young with plenty of improvement in him. He also puts in a shift as well and looks a threat when he runs at defenders with quick feet and low centre of gravity. You can see some little things not quite coming off but the margins are fine; with time and development I think the little details in his game will get better and sharper. If he doesn't at least have a good career in top flight European league I'll be very surprised.
If nothing else I'm confident he'll be a more effective player for us than Antony and Sancho have been.

It seemed madness at the time. On the other hand, there were times last season when we were lucky to have him, and without his goals we'd have finished closer to the bottom half of the table performance our underlying stats suggested we deserved.
Any update on Sancho moving? I see PSG got the lad Rosso was creaming his pants over. I’m guessing that means Ugarte will be moved on, maybe we can lower the fee, straight away for Sancho would be lovely.

Who knows how we would have used the money had we sold him though? Me might have actually bought a midfielder who can play in midfield.

Ive not heard this before....but if Yoro did feel pain in his foot the day before and sat out training, then there is no reason in the world why he should have been picked to play vs Arsenal with the outcome that his painful foot ended up busted.
This is not bad luck. If true.

I do think Bernardo is pretty strong on the ball, to be fair. I think Amad has the capacity to be one of the smaller players with good core strength, and a low centre of gravity that allows him to keep his balance in duels.
Whether his technical level and intelligence is enough to reach these kind of heights even someone like Mata did, remains to be seen.
He’s not a slow player by any means, so he’s got a lot of tools to work with. Always difficult to judge the potential of a player like this who has played so few games. The mental qualities of a player ultimately decide what levels they can achieve with the tools they have developed by their early 20s.
Diallo turned 22 a fortnight ago, I think he’s ready to be given a run in the team. Let Garnacho and Rashford battle out the LW role for the first 4-5 games of the season and see where we are.
PSG could be a good move for Sancho, if he has any ambitions of getting back to a level that his talent suggests he should be at. Especially when you consider he probably played his best football when paired out wide with Hakimi.
I wonder who EtH sees as being ahead in the pecking order of wide forwards? Amad is probably ahead of both Antony and Sancho now.
Hopefully he at least gets opportunities this season. I do think lack of rotation is a big issue with EtH

Remains to be seen if the lack of rotation is related to lack of balance and/ or trust in the squad. There are too many examples of players without a like for like replacement.
Does anyone have much optimism for the new season? I can't see us finishing any higher than 5th. But if its 5th with Europa League win, I'd take that.
