Funny isn't it. Every opener we've tried in the last 10 years seems to have a fundamental flaw, but Duckett is the only one where they simply don't care, because he's hyper aggressive and they like that.

I suppose Crawley has shown the value in giving a player time, but even then, his average is still only just over 30 so he's hardly turned into an unqualified success!

He averages over 40 batting at 3 for England...

To be honest I think there can be questions of Ollie Pope no matter where he bats. But 5 of his 6 centuries have come batting at 3 and that's where there is a place for him to bat. Are there many better candidates than him out there? My personal choice would be Sam Hain but he's the new James Hildreth.
