“Celtic have enquired about the availability of Crystal Palace's 31-year-old utility man Jeffrey Schlupp. (Daily Mail)”

Lazy journalism on yet another of BR’s former players? Or just more lazy recruitment from us? Why the fook do we continue to try to shop in THE most over-priced market in football? … and for a fairly journeyman pro who’ll be 32 this year and will have no resale value? Saw a fair bit of him when he was at Leicester, generally coming off the bench. His main attribute was probably his running power … the thing that will be first to go. Not saying he’d be a bad player up here, but (just like the previous Ndidi link) I don’t see how this fits into our supposed model at all. James McCarthy anybody?

Talk of loans for two Liverpool players Ben Doak and Bobby Clark.

Daizen Maeda and Bernardo come into the squad for the Hibernian game.

As Brendan goes to his big black book which seems to be our head scout, rumours of move for Crystal Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp.

I think Schlupp's attraction is his versatility, he's played two or three positions, might just be gossip.

Seems we are linked with Bredan's former players on a daily basis.

He's trying to offload, Rocki, Lager and Kobayashi ASAP. As he's trying to bring in a decent CB and LB.

Zico … Aye, Schlupp can “fill in” for a number of positions, including LB, so I can see why we’d be all over that … save us signing an actual one.

BTW, as we sleep walk towards a potentially pivotal OF encounter in 3 weeks, it’s looking almost certain we’ll go into that with glaring weak link Taylor still at LB, and MOR gone.

Teams will always target the left of our defence, it's our weak spot. Scales and Taylor aren't good enough, and don't even mention the Champions League...

I reckon we'll get a decent CB and LB and Idah and another striker in this window. It'll take time as we seem to always wait until the last minute to get players signed up.

In a much wider sense, the entire transfer market is very sluggish right now across the board.

Sluggish is an interesting choice of word but it's certainly different

Feels like the spending gazillions without care has come to an end for every club except Chelsea. Clubs haggling a lot more and not just accepting stupid valuations

Aye, Chelsea are an outlier who just don’t seem to give a feck. Signed their 8th keeper yesterday … yes, EIGHT.

BTW, whilst I think a player like Schlupp could undoubtedly “do a job” up here, across a number of positions, I come back to my point about our financial model. I said yesterday that when MOR goes this month that’s 2 of our 4 crown jewels gone, leaving CCV and a somewhat injury-prone Hatate (CalMac thankfully ain’t going anywhere, and we’ve frankly nobody else who’s going to go for decent dosh). So we surely need to be targeting the next Jota/MOR profile signings? Not saying that’s easy, but we could at least be trying. Bernardo fits the profile age-wise, but I can’t say he’s shown anywhere near enough to suggest he’s a future big sale … and I’m sure we’ve agreed a whopping sell-on for Benfica anyway (30%?), to screw his price down even more.

Aberdeen have agreed a 4 year deal with Topi Keskinen. The Dons have agreed to pay €1 million euros to HJK for their Finnish under-21 international. Deal is subject to a medical and visa

Aye, clearly spending a bit of the Miovski cash before he’s actually away. Can somebody tell Pistol that this is actually possible.

Peter's still not spent his communion money

Rumours from the Sheep is this might be Miovski's last match for them.

Aberdeen have completed their sixth signing of the window with the arrival of exciting winger Topi Keskinen from HJK Helsinki for around £860,000. On the exit front, Bojan Miovski is set to land the Dons a bumper payday when he leaves for Girona

Looks like 6.5/6.8m for Miovski

Celtic are interested in Augsburg central midfielder Arne Engels.

The 20yo is one of the top targets, IF Matt O’Riley leaves.

Augsburg value him at around £9m.

Rennes also keen on Engels, but he’d prefer a move to Celtic to play in the UCL.

why IF.

he's going to, whether its this month or next year, just get him in, if he's a talent that would improve us then go get him.

That’s a fantastic piece of business. You guys don’t happen to fancy a CEO who’s great at this kind of thing do you? Needs a bit of work on understanding value, working capital and investment, but I’m sure he’ll get there.

Anyways, great return but I get the feeling if we had knocked the door (hahahahahahaha), the asking price would have been upwards on £10m.

Celtic would have tried to get him for 2m

Looks like the money is being spent well hopefully, couple of players to come in and we are set I reckon

We might have gone to £4m. Either way, Aberdeen would never have wanted to sell to us as £6.8 or whatever.

Na Miovski was always going abroad doubt he would have signed for either team even if they could afford him

posted on 15/8/24

Probably just the latest rumours pash, but the Engels link sounds interesting. Has played CM, RB, RW … 6 foot … supposedly fancies a tilt at the CL (brave lad thinking doing so with us might be good) … what’s not to like? We absolutely should be capable of a couple of Idah level signings cost-wise, with CL cash guaranteed and MOR heading out the door for north of £20m.

Aye, that’s what my Dons mates were saying. Miovski always wanted a tilt at one of the big leagues, so if that was on the cards then either one of the OF was never a starter. He’ll be a big loss, but the cash seems to be getting invested well so far.

Huge upgrade at Goalkeeper
Gavin Molloy looks like a solid CB
Nilsen looks classy, solid CM
Palaversa cost Man City 7m a few years back but had some bad injuries
Ambrose looks half decent
Keskinen from what I remember was good and for 800k is a big transfer
Thelin impressed so far and he definitely has something about him to give the Aberdeen fans some confidence this season
