Double signings

Matthijs de Ligt: £38.6M + £4.29m
Noussair Mazraoui: £12.8M + £4.29m

How much did they want originally? Nice to see us not getting completely rinsed now. See how they pan out of course and they might not be everyone’s pick of signings, but I like the deals.

Just need Mount and McTominay to leave now and I can cry of happiness.

I see your Mount and Mctominay and raise you Antony and Lindelof
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I dislike the former a lot more than the latter.

I imagine Lindelof will be shown the door once these deals are done.

Still worry about our midfield…

Yeah these new defenders aren’t gonna know what hit them when you combine the pace and nature of the PL with the complete lack of any midfield protection

Berge incoming and Ugarte is a possibility

Very good fees IF (huge if) they can stay fit.

I am worried that we still seem to be taking far too many risks on injury prone players and getting 2 more ex Ajax/EtH players is funny.

40-odd million for De Ligt seems like a good deal. Isn't he on crazy money at Bayern tho?

I'd love if we got a CM and Toney as you ask for in the post, would be a fantastic (if unlikely) window that.

Must have a bid for Lindelof and one of Casemiro or McT accepted to if De Ligt is done.

You were telling us how fun and entertaining Antony is gonna be when we bought him, gotta keep backing him.

Apparently things have changed and Toney is available at £40m, which I’d imagine we’d have gone for instead of Zirkzee if we’d have that information at the time.

However as Rasmus appears injury prone and we are in dire need of a natural goalscorer, I think signing Toney could make up for some of our shortfalls.

Dutch Eric Dier and Moroccan Nathaniel Clyne
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dier was the one who displaced De Ligt, so this is a pretty generous comparison

Dier and De Ligt mainly played together once the latter came back from injury but please don't let reality get in the way of a narrative that pleases you.

I'm having FUN though.

In all seriousness they're not signings that worry me as a rival fan. They might move the needle a bit but I guess time will tell.

A "rival fan"?

Brighton? West Ham? Fulham?

Mario Hermoso, LB, on free doing the rounds! 29 YO would provide a stop-gap solution to Shaw and his injuries. Along with Amass would be a good option to have at LB.

Depth and quality taking hold of the squad slowly especially in defence. Finally!

LB
Amass, Shaw, Mario Hermoso

RB
Mazraoui, Dalot

CB
De Ligt, Licha, Yoro, Evans, Maguire

I think Lindelof will be sold this window, Maguire will be gone by next summer. Evans' deal is for one season so either we'll get another young CB or someone from the youth team like Fish may be promoted next season.

Not over the moon with either of these signings but hopeful they will come good.

Better than what we have and will allow us to play more controlled football, receiving passes from the GK under pressure and in tight spaces. Or would you rather see backward passes, look of dread on our CBs when on the ball? Or even hit and hope football?

Mazraoui may not have AWBs recovery tackles but will be adequate enough for a FB plus more in attack.
