It’s like our dealings with Villa, they get a good player whilst we get someone we don’t need.

Far from being upset by it, I’ve been on record for 3 years now saying I find it fascinating - it’s incredible how much they have faaacked your club in a short space of time

Where is Sandy, these days?
Tbf 60mil for Solanke is pretty wild. Then again so is the same for Neto.
I'm officially too old for modern football if those deals are deemed value for money by the majority.
Solanke has had one decent season at Bournemouth, apart from that he has been terribly inconsistent over his career unfortunately.
The fee? who knows , the likelihood is will hit the ground running, which is not a bad thing.
As far as what we do in the market?
To me it feels like the accountants first are dictating our transfer policy, from an ideal world perspective, 2+ 2 = 4, but transfer dealings at this level are far from being an ideal science.
Too many dots to join up and variables to hope that will all fall in place.
I think we know how that will go.
After that it strikes me the club are crossing their fingers hoping that we will progress in the league.
Well we might, but is it really likely we be stable enough as a squad/ team to mount anything more than a sixth place finish for the foreseeable future?
Personally i can't see that unfortunately, I do hope ive that wrong.

One Spurs fan on here called Maddison @ £40m a "Levy cheapo deal" £40,000,000 ! Cheap
Quite a few fans have lost touch with reality, attack the club for putting up the price of a ST by £60, the first increase in 4 years, and then criticise them for haggling over transfer deal to save or make several million pounds.

We're defo a good £10m OTT in terms of the fee (£55m + add ons) but in terms of what he can bring to the team, his goals are only part of it. A lot of his off the ball stats are some of the best in the league, so the press will start with him and he's very effective at it. He is much more of a hold up player than Son & Richi, and he offers genuine aerial presence in the box which we have lacked since Kane left and is a very necessary option against the low blocks we frequently face. We were one of the least effective with headed goals last season so open play or set pieces he will add something we don't have. Similarly in defending set pieces.
Strikers are often reliant on the supply and Bournemouth have not been a top team or a particularly attacking one until recently. He'll get more chances at Spurs so will have the opportunity to make hay and then we will see whether he's worth all that money.
As for you guys, it is very very odd what is happening. You have spent a fortune yet have barely added to the first XI.
Strikes me if you gave Gallagher what he wants, kept that LB you sold to Villa, bought Osinhem and a CB you could have spent less and had a really decent squad to work with which could potentially make top 4.
Instead you have 8 GKs
yeah, their asset stripping.
Imo, it is all about the ownership rebuilding their original asset value on the books / accounts over x amount of years?
I think they massively damaged / undervalued their investment with their abysmal antics in the first season.
These guys are money people , all they are doing is doubling down the only way a group multi billionaires with egg on their faces know how to.
The consequence of this is they are becoming exposed for what they are.
They are not first footballing experts, they are distant from the the culture of sport their business inhabits and since they have been at the club they have returned the support very little to be happy about, bar saving the club from total collapse, as they did buy the club.
The final point is not worth much, as there were several buyers lining up to buy / save the club.
Fair play to you though, you have always known how to make money from your academy.
If Gallagher goes this summer thats the best part of 140m euros IN from academy sales.
What's your pre-season been like? Promising?
Roman, knew how to do it for sure, but he was a football brain, he had control over the finances, also he did it from position of strength , as he was not under the same pressure due to todays FFP/ PSR scrutiny.
Plus he did prioritise elite level competitiveness , which these guys have let slip, with their moronic actions in the 1st season.
Going forward, Im highly sceptical whether the current business model that the ownership have in place will establish the club for the foreseeable future as no more than a top half club, it may enable them to manage FFP and gradually stabilise the clubs finances and value .
Pre season, ?
Personally I did not expect much more than what we got, due to the world cup/ unfit long term injured players/ key spine being out and so on. We did have pretty tough set of fixtures, Real, Celtic, City, Inter .
Importantly we didnt suffer a long list of injury, bar Reece James
Players got minutes, the manager got the opportunity to look at his squad as it was.
Also the new manager effect.
we play you in December and April.
God knows what state either team will be in by then.
It is by no means certain that we will continue to improve under Ange this season. Remains to be seen if we can address the issues of last season, tactically and in personnel.

I think you are right on Spurs, but we had so many issues in the 2nd half of last season that i think this has shaken the confidence of the fan base a bit, and may be even the team.
Ange's tactics require total commitment so if we start to hit a bit of poor form, then immediately the tactics will be questioned. That could spiral downwards like it did a bit last season.
That said, i think a fair chunk of our issues from last season came from an imbalance in the team which mainly came from having to play Son up top. We were often easily kept at arms length by a low block, forcing us into more inpatient, riskier moves where we lost possession and were vulnerable on the turn over.
Personally I did not expect much more than what we got, due to the (world cup/ *)
