We deserved to win 6-0 today. What do our players do in front of goal in training?

Don't think Maguire didn't anything outstanding. Fulham weren't much of a threat in the middle, it was all out wide. Apart from a good ping out to Rashford and a dive in their box, nothing much else of note.
That new guy on the right showed some nice touches and the new striker seems to have something about him. Fernandes probably your best player but points lost for shouting straight at the keeper several times.

Buying 3 defenders will hopefully make a huge difference being more solid.

I was happy with the reduction in shots we got? Last season was sad asf and hopefully we can keep that up

Agree with this, a decent/good performance but nothing outstanding. Hom savings the 2 on 1 was more because of poor play from Fulham.
Mazouri looked really good as did Zirkzee, not just his goal but some good link up play and nice touches to keep possession. We played some good stuff today and should have won comfortably.
I get it was only Fulham but they run us ragged last season

His standard is so low that performances like this are a surprise and seen as good. If we can play like he did today every time he plays, then that's a good thing as he was decent for him.
Felt very much like a 23/4 season performance. No standout performances.

First game of the season after not much downtime for a lot of players. A win and a decent performance so a good start. We will get better when the new players bed in, some have only had a few training sessions

First time in 2024 we’ve conceded 10 shots or less im a game. A huge factor why we were so poor last season.
Buying 3 defenders will hopefully make a huge difference being more solid.
I liked the look of Zirkzee.

A large part of that was how much better our counterpress is looking now.
We kept them pinned in their half for large parts of the game, particularly first half, and kept their midfield from exploiting space between the lines despite their numerical advantage in there. Credit to the front four in particular for that, but as a team it worked well.
The chances they did have, barring the corners, largely came from more direct, longer balls, which we largely hoovered up quickly. Bodes well, particularly for when we have a fitter and pacier back four ready to play.
Shots against stat may be somewhat skewed or not show the full picture here. They had multiple 3 v 1 situations that they messed up, we were far too open at times still getting run through the middle with ease. Understand we were pushing for a goal but some of the gaps you can see from the whole pitch were fckin huge.
Great to win though, all about points on the board the first few weeks while players get up to speed.

Let's be happy with the win in what was a nervy game. Lots to work on, but I can't see how Casemiro and Mainoo can cope as midfield against the better teams. They seemed to fade in the second half.
No-one stood out, but I do feel Maguire was one of the better performers. Also decent debut for Maz.
Good boost for Zirkzee, but why at home we are starting with Bruno and Mount upfront is ridiculous. Lots to work on, but hey, we're top of the league
Oh definitely, last seasons opener was horrible and genuinely have no idea how we didn’t lose that game by a few goals.

I still think it was loads better than last season, we were giving up twice as many shots. This was with Maguire and a LB that's probably had 1 training session
We did miss some easy, or very good chances too.
Maguire saved Man Utd in the 2nd half which was Silva gameplan smash and grab raid.
It almost doesn't matter who are CBs are, it's the protection in front of them that's key, and we still seem very open. Really hope Ugarte is coming

It’s how effective the cover shadowing in the press is, how effective the funnelling is and how frequently we’re able to win the ball back. It’s how smart the pair in the pivot is. And it’s how high we can afford to push the CBs to compress the space between the lines.
The effectiveness of the system, particularly the diligence of the front four but across the outfield, is more important than which two players we have in midfield.
Ugarte might make a difference, but I think the two keys are going to be the execution of the press from the front and the defensive line.
Even if it works as well as we might hope, we’re still going to see a lot of basketball this season. We’re going to be countered a lot. But if we’re creating two or three good chances per counter we’re exposed to and we aren’t as wasteful as we were tonight, that shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
