I find AI handy if you fancy a few pool days and don't want to pay for food and drink. The danger is though that you get in the mindset that you don't want to move because why pay elsewhere. It's also handy to get a few drinks in whilst Mrs DC is getting ready for an evening out.

You're on holiday with the family and you're trying to find ways to chat to 'birds'? Yeah, you sound like a nice guy

Went to all-inclusive a few years ago. Hotel was fine but we'll never do it again. There was some weirdo following my wife around making creepy comments about doing it in the sea before his family came down, and there was a Welsh guy in the bar getting wasted while glued to his phone and muttering stuff about transfer rumours.

AI is certainly handy with the kids. But we always go out for a few meals over the course of the holiday. Went to Turkey in a large group as few weeks ago and we went out to restaurants for 5 of the 10 night we were there. But it is great through the day when the kids can just go and get there own snacks as and when without having to get everyone together.

Couldn't agree more. My idea of hell.

Went on one all inclusive once and said never again. Full of morons who get up at 5.30am to reserve a sun lounger near the pool and is the highlight of their day. And don't get me started on the food. Buffet style crap which is almost identical every single night. All these amazing steak houses 5 mins away and they have to make do with sub standard meals because they have already paid for it.

Da fack?

To give you the benefit of the doubt I am going to assume you mean you wake up early and talk to the singing birds, and the owls at night, kind of like a reta rded Dr Doolittle.

Yeah back in 2022 but we didn't go all inclusive. We only had Bed and Breakfast and we ate in some incredible restaurants.

Dubai really isn't a place you want to do all inclusive either as it's about going seeing all the attractions and sights. If you want to lay by the pool you'd just go to Spain or Portugal surely?

Loved it there and would definitely go back and I wasn't really a fan of the idea of going in the first place. It was my wife and son who really wanted to go.

Each to their own. I'd put a trip to Dubai up their with a package holiday.

Booked an AI for 3 nights to Fuertaventura for the missus’ birthday this November.

Only went AI once before a couple of years ago and I loved the food, but I’m not overly picky, she wasn’t quite so keen.

This was how I felt but we honestly had the best holiday. Its a fabulous place. Didn't think it would be for me but I have to say I loved it. The weather is obviously guaranteed but the people, food, transport options, attractions..... absolutely first class. Amazing place.

An all inclusive full of your typical loud mouth 'in-ger-land' types is my idea of hell though. Never again.

All inclusive is always a very mixed bag and you are trying your luck when you go for it, if you find a good one though, hold onto it.

Plenty of snobs. Those turning their noses up at it are likely the ones that like to remind everyone that they're not doing the touristy things.

Kinda reminded me of this...

Ah that's definitely a different discussion altogether. I love the tourist attractions. That's definitely a huge part of why you go to places like Dubai, LA, New York etc.

We are currently planning a trip to Singapore for next year. Another place that ironically my wife has said she'd loved to visit and I'd never given it much thought. It's supposed to be a fabulous place.

The good thing about all inclusive, particularly in Portugal, is that you have everything you need at the resort/hotel. You can leave your kids safely locked up in their room sleeping whilst you go to the restaurant for food and drink, safe in the knowledge that nothing will happen to them.

Never had a problem with all inclusive vacations before wether it was Magaluf, Corfu or the multiple cruises I have been on.

Singapore is strange. A bit too perfect and law-abiding for my liking, but on the other hand a nice mixture of cultures and cuisines, and I particularly liked the neighbourhoods like China Town / Little India that feature more of a concentration of one migrant group. One thing not to miss is eating at one of the hawker centres. The food is cheap, good quality, diverse, and you get to eat among locals doing an authentic Singaporean thing.
