I suppose there is a world where we could see Mainoo being used less frequently as well. That wouldn't be a bad thing IMO as I don't thing we should flog him too much at this early stage of his career.

Lets pretend this is a top level signing. Lets pretend that if he was really as good as made out, PSG would 100% sell him to a major European rival like us.

His passing is poor and whilst he can tackle, he won't hurt teams in possession.

Another dud from ETH.

Given how 'great' our squad now apparently is and how 'world class' our transfer window has been, what will people say to defend ETH when we flop again??

Will people finally then wake up and accept that ETH isn't good enough??????

What will the excuse be for all the Hagopologists ??? He'll still need more time? More money??

Ten Hag out. Now.

I’ve literally seen no-one say our squad is great nor this transfer window world class.

It does look to be at least a step in the right direction.

No idea if Ugarte would be a good signing or not. Seems to be a good presser/tackler, but not sure about his on the ball capabilities. Carl Anka says he gets a nose bleed when he ventures in the final third of the pitch.

To be fair I get a nose bleed when Rashford ventures into the final third 😂

I am optimistic, but ETH will need to be on top form.
No left back, three new signings to integrate, two injured already, some with a good preseason, some less so.
Also deciding what shape to play against City away, City home, Forest away, Forest home.
I don't know our best team and format for each situation but hope Eric does.

It would be great if we could sign an alternative to Mainoo but maybe that’s asking too much. Not sure him starting 50 games is the best development for him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Collyer ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Potentially but he’s a 20 year old with zero senior experience. Remains to be seen if he’s good enough although I hear pre-season looked promising.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why would we need to spend money on a backup for Mainoo? Mount, Casemiro and/or McT can easily play in that role if need...

I’m going to be fuming if he wins loads of tackles, stops us being walked through constantly in midfield, makes interceptions and appear more solid defensively shielding the CBs if he doesn’t also rack up loads of goals and assists or play Scholes like passes. Waste of money if that’s the case.

---------------------------------------------

Mountominay have no business playing in midfield for us and none of them can do what Mainoo can do so they can't play that 'role'.

It wouldn't hurt us to buy a playmaker next summer to start next to Ugarte to give us more quality and depth in midfield.

Mainoo as good as he already is for his age, shouldn't be playing every game and I think it could even benefit us sometimes to have somebody with his skillset coming off the bench in games.

It's finding the right player though as the lack of quality available in that position right now compared to a decade or so ago is frightening. Even then with so many good options available we still couldn't build a half decent midfield.

But Mount provides elite level press / counter press. He does little else though. At least he provides something, as for McT? Zilch!

Sigh!

We now have best in class football people but are forced to do what Murtough et al did anyone. Maybe the club is simply cursed, we are victims of our own financial success.

At the rate it’s taken us to build a half decent midfield, Tom Cleverley will be back at the club as manager.

Mount is a strange signing but we knew from his Chelsea days he was creative and a goal threat so if he can rediscover that to add to his work rate and pressing ability he may have a future. He's not everyone's cup of tea. I'm not completely sold on him either TBF.
