Not as easy as you might think. Cantwell looked poor up there, as does Lawrence, and our own Amad didn't pull up any trees.
Not to say Mejbri won't do well though.
We need both, don't we? Our high press style needs a lot of mobility to mop up behind the front line. We could also do with midfielders who can control tempo, pass incisively and switch play. There are very few in world football who do both these things, and we can't afford one. Mainoo is good at keeping things ticking over and slowing it down when necessary, also at carrying forward, and I guess we'll get to see the full range of his passing in time. Casemiro has a decent switch and occasional line breaking pass, but isn't so good at consolidating possession; he can patrol space but not too much. Bruno can drop deep and switch play. Ugarte's profile is needed, in my opinion. Just we could also do with a young Carrick as well.

EtH's style of play has surprised me a little since he came to the club. We were lead to believe that Casemiro was a more 'pragmatic' signing at the time, and a symptom of our bizarre recruitment set up at the time. However, EtH seems to 'need' this destroyer type of player in order to defend in transitions; Ugarte from what I understand is a more mobile 'destroyer' than Casemiro, rather than a Carrick type.
I don't think we will go down the route of having both a destroyer and a tempo-setter in the same starting XI. However, I will be interested in our recruitment approach when Casemiro leaves. Will we search for a Carrick type as an alternative to the style of play Ugarte brings, or something similar.

Imagine we shift Sancho and bag FDJ... Some posters would lose their minds.
I'd be one of them, Berbaking. His stock seems to be lower now than it was in '22. Probably a bit cheaper than he would have been at that point. (And Barca still couldn't register Olmo last I looked.)
FDJ is the player people think Mainoo is.
De Jong is the highest paid player in Spain, on €37m a year apparently. Gonna have to take a fat wage drop if he wants to join us.
