If we could sell Sancho and get Sterling on loan on reduced wages it would be a decent deal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
United will pay the 300k plus which is the only reason he would want to go there
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah sure.

We’ve worked hard all summer to trim the squad and get rid of the dross on high wages only to go and fack it up by signing Sterling, Castor is one thick twaaaat

Sterling is a very firm no from me, not least because he played for both City and the filth.

I know you've had your troubles but i would expect the quality of the likes of Bruno & your wide players to be better than what Brentford have to offer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

And yet they created very few chances. Hojlund had good conversion stats and poor stats in terms of shots taken. Part of that was an issue of profiling: we had a team that had done well with hold-up CFs and using wide forwards (especially Rashford) as the primary vehicles to get behind a defence and score goals, and then added a centre forward who is at his best in the box or having the ball played into space in front of him. I believe we needed that profile of player, but Hojlund isn't the kind of CF to get the best out of Rashford, and nor is Rashford the sort of chance creating machine who suits Hojlund. Ironically, Sancho is a better profile fit for Hojlund, but didn't have that kind of striker to play off when he was in the team, and by the time Hojlund arrived, Sancho was addicted to games and staying up past his bedtime.

As an aside, I'm not sure whether Sterling's form has dropped off a cliff, or if it's more a case of going from a side which executes loads of perfectly choreographed collective attacking moves per match to a club in total disarray. He moved from football's most efficient chance creating machine to Boehly's Chelsea. Of course he's not going to be as productive.

The issue, of course, is that United's attacking strategies are more Chelsea than City.

We actually have attacking strategies? That's good to know. 😂

Goes a long way to explain why so far you havent had a clear identity because your recruitment hasnt seemed to have been working towards an end vision of how you want to play.

I find Zirkzee a slightly odd choice for you as although he has some no.10 qualities, its doubtful he'll weigh in with a load of goals so you're then hoping he can unlock your wide players better than Rasmus does...but your wide players aint that prolific either.

The reason why i thought Toney would help you is that he's a bit more of an instinctive striker, good movement, good hold up play and who is also well capable of roughing up a back line. A much better player to play off than Rasmus and arguably better in front of goal

He was beginning to decline before leaving City which I'm pretty sure is why they sold him in the 1st place.

As I said, it's primarily for financial reasons, not footballing ones, that Toney isn't really viable.

Sterling’s movement is vastly superior to anyone we have in the squad. We’ve got issues with creativity, but the movement of our forwards is waaaank as well.

I tell you who united need right now…

He is in the French league tearing it up. But for stupid politics he should be here.

Yeah, but I think that's more a gradual decline than a dropping off cliff scenario. He had 13 league goals for City in his final season, which is a very good return. He'd been England's best player in the Euros just a year earlier. It was generally regarded as a sensible time for City to cash in while his stock was still high, and in the context of reconfiguring the team with the arrival of Haaland, with more chance creation going through the middle. Not a case of selling dead wood to a gullible buyer.

The only reason we should be talking to Chelsea about Sterling is to waste their time and ensure he stays there 😂

Why weren't Real or Barca in for him this summer?

posted 3 weeks, 2 days ago

If you had Sterling and Rashford on opposing wins, you'd have 2 of the countries most talented and skillful wide players but also 2 of the worst decision makers in football. Sterling always seems to take too many touches and slow play down and Rashford always seems to pass when he should shoot and vice versa.

Sterling would be an improvement on Antony though, so if you could loan him & sancho out then it would be an upgrade.

Tearing up the French league is no guarantee of anything.............

The only way I could entertain a Sterling move would be if Sancho and Antony were definitely going. But ultimately I feel that Sterling is on the decline and not exactly a great influence on the squad. Rashford should be at his peak..............but his peak doesn't seem very good. Wait til the summer and try to get an Eze or Gordon

My nan would be an improvement on Antony,at least she can use both feet.

It's whether Sterling would be better than Amad, currently I'd say it's close but they are going opposite ways. We've been there too many times before, paying a lot of money (fee + wages) on a declining player with no resale value and difficult to get off the books if it's not working out. Amad needs to be given a proper chance to prove himself

I really don’t think we need an another wide forward this summer if Sancho goes.

Hopefully Amad and Garnacho can kick on and Rashford finds something.

Diafol is probably the only one who will agree with me but if the team structure improves I think Antony can offer something for us.

posted 3 weeks, 2 days ago

There is a lot of media outlets reporting this now. 😭

This football club will be the death of me, it really will.

This season should be last chance saloon for both Rashford & Antony.

At left back! Haha.

To be serious though some of our better performances and results in Erik's first season came when Antony was playing. He may just suit having a player like Zirkzee to play off. He does absolutely need to improve his numbers though. He needs to be more of a threat going forward. It's all well and good being tidy on the ball but we will need more.

Juan Mata was a great guy but never really landed for us. He had a few stellar moments but mostly he wasn't the same player he was for Chelsea.

Matic again had the odd good game here and there but again he wasn't a huge success.

Mason Mount. What can you even say? He's been a monumental flop.

Why do we want to be the club to help Chelsea constantly refresh their squad and get some of their higher earners off the books?

Imagine having an ex City, Liverpool and Chelsea player in our squad? 😂

INEOS aren't as serious as I thought if they go ahead with this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

* Very wrong
* possibly but he was better than McTominay
* Very very wrong

So, two crap pieces of critical thinking and one iffy one.

Par for the course.

During his stay Mata was the best player at the club (other than Rooney). His capabilities were a coaches dream. And yet the club gave a headless chicken, in herrera, far more game time. Ludicrous.

Mount is already the best, most contributory, midfield option at the club - especially so considering his age

Probably the best signing the club has made in quite a while...

So your point(s) is/are moot [at best]

How am I wrong? Juan Mata was okay for us at best. He was very good for Chelsea.

Matic was a very average signing and again I think showed more consistency at Chelsea.

Mason Mount so far has been a massive flop. He's either injured or not scoring or creating goals for us.

So no....it's you who hadn't got a clue.

We seem to be the dumping ground for players they are happy to move on.
