Don't forget Rodon fee.
But, you're right, all of this is so late, if it happens at all, not really what was expected when told we're going to be aggressive in market etc etc
My instincts were, we're d king around yet again.
Pocketing the loot from player sales. Then I fell for
the clickbait/ja606 rumors yet again. Had high
hopes for this window. So far, I'd give it a meh out
of ten. Underwhelming. I like the two signings.
But, still need an LB, and 8, a 10, and another goal scorer because waiting for Bamford to contribute
to this team is idiocy. Continued idiocy.
The club still have two days. However, looks like
any of the big names quite a few of us want were
either paper talk, wishful thinking, agent bollox,
or the club low balling and getting nowt back.
I'll reserve judgement until the window closes.
Not looking likely we'll dip into the war chest though.
So many players, so few decent bids.
It's seems the 49ers are waiting for the window to close.
I'm a bit like you, Kebab, at the moment. It feels like too little, too late. If we get Hamer or Salai, that would be a big plus, but for now, it looks like a window for selling off our assets, offloading some driftwood, and doing some bargain hunting. The lack of defensive cover is a big worry for me. How hard is it to get a left back? The other concern is that Gnonto will go. He would be a significant loss for us.
A month ago, our transfer inaction led me to call Marathe & Co asset strippers - with two days to go, they have done very little to change my opinion. What’s the evidence they’re even trying to bring anyone else in? And if they are, how utterly amateurish have they shown themselves to be by leaving things so late in the day.
All the clauses have killed us for two seasons now.
How can you plan, when half the squad can leave at any moment, and you have zero say in it.
The Archie Gray money ensured we were within PSR for the previous period. Not the current one.
I expect that we need to sell players to stay within PSR for this season as no signings/sales would leave us with too big a loss. So an element of the sales would cover that. Despite parachute payments our wage bill, and amortization costs will still be very high for this division.
Rutter sale would have generated a profit of around £20m for PSR not £40m.
The Rodon, Bogle, Ramazani fees will be spread over 4 years for PSR so will show as a total loss for the season of about £6-7m.
We have moved on plenty of Premier League contracts with Rutter, Summerville, Dallas, Cooper, Ayling all going and probably some others. (Subject to wage reductions)
We have gained premier league contracts in Wober & Aaronson. (Subject to wage reductions)
Obviously wages for new signings too.
Parachute payments have reduced.
Red Bull sponsorship is unknown but better have good income.
Nothing like a case of saying we have sold for £80m therefore we have £80m to spend.
I would guess that the sale of Summerville ruled out any possibility of being affected by PSR and gave us money to spend, Ramazani transfer hopefully covered by Summerville sale and therefore we still have the Rutter sale available to spend. Which is a big budget for this level due to amortization. However if the club can avoid spending too much of the next 3 years transfer budget on Championship players it will help us once we are promoted. The danger is that we don’t get promoted at all in which case it’s irrelevant.
At the end of the day, if we go up they have got it right, if we don’t they haven’t. And all this pontificating from us fans who have no idea what’s actually happening is irrelevant.
There’s going to be an awful lot of fans that will say we needed more players at the end of this window regardless, if we go on to win the league that will all be forgotten and those same fans will still know better than the 49ers at the next window. It’s a lot easier to be a know it all on here than it is to actually get a club promoted.
I'll copy my final paragraph that I posted on Light's thread from about 2 weeks ago.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly.
What you should be doing is planning for wirst case or these players leave either sold or unavailable.
So we need to be looking at x players.
Does it feel like we did that, especially with farke saying he told club in jam to get ready for this?
With a couple of days to end of window it really doesn’t look like it.
In any business (successful anyway), a full risk assessment of possible pitfalls with respect to decisions, should be carried out. Clearly the clauses were not adequately thought through and there was no concept of possible failure.

Exactly, very poorly managed.
We're looking at inbounds, but we have to also be wary of last minute outbounds.
I know Meslier come in for a lot of criticism but if he left last minute, are Darlow or Cairns really suitable replacements?
Would anyone put their life savings on both Meslier and Gnonto being here at 12 a.m Saturday? - think slim chance of a departure still.
....and I don't think the Wober situation is resolved yet.
Meslier leaving? Wheres this come from?
I do get the feeling that Gnonto will do a Sinisterra and leave us at the last moment.
I think it'll be an okay window if we sign Hamer, a full back and Tanaka
Not a chance Meslier or Gnonto leaves. I will put my life savings on it.
Really hope your savings are safe Faith!
Just doesn’t make sense that they would go.
The only way it could happen is if the club thought they had a better replacement. I can’t see that with Gnonto, and can’t see anyone coming in with enough money to tempt a sale of Meslier. The club will likely believe that Meslier will come could and his value could massively increase.
There was a more realistic argument for either of them leaving earlier in the window but can’t see it now.
Look at the value the club have supposedly put on Wober. If it’s going to take £16.8m to get him then what’s it going to take to get Gnonto?

Do I think he'll leave now? No.

Just need a 20m bid on deadline day by a desperate prem or French club, m you think 49ers would say no?

I would expect them to say no unless a replacement was available and could be done simultaneously.
£20m for an asset worth £10m would show a decent profit but massively reduce the chances of promotion which would show a huge profit.
These are businessmen and incredibly successful ones at that.
The idea that these guys are asset stripping or planning to make a lot of money by selling off the all the valuables is just nonsensical.
There's a lot of misunderstanding with PSR and our position, but take a look at Leicester who are expecting a significant points deduction and have really struggled to make any improvements to their squad following promotion. That's what happens if you don't stick to the rules and we are much more likely to be in the Premier League next season than them.
Sky sports Gernany reporting we've signed Tanaka from Dusseldorf for 4 million.

i think that would be an excellent window (depending on quality of the fullback of course)
Summerville was the championship player of the year last year and Rutter and Gray both have the potential to be next level talents, keeping hold was never going to be an option when premier league money is so much.
However we get in those three and we have the strength in depth we need, as long as we dont lose anyone
Ao Tanaka flying this morning for a medical. Leeds United hopeful of completing that one today. Also expecting movement on other business today in order to complete tomorrow. The hope is for three. Tanaka, full-back and another. No guarantees obviously.
