Well an interesting game eh. From 36% possession we win 3 0. Mind you we've been there ourselves haven't we. Dominated games and either drawn or lost. I thought Brizzle were a good team, and for the 1st 20 mins I thought we were going to get beaten... but we grew into the game and could have won by a bigger margin.
So many good performances out there that to pick a MOM was a little unfair.
Must admit I didnt feel comfortable til the 3rd went in though.
It'll be interesting to see who gets left out when the 2 new guys come in.
Also good to see Birdy and JK38 didn't have much of an impact. Suspect Birdy would have felt a bit awkward today ...
Anyway...an enjoyable game. Cheers. Terry. UTR
I just got back from Zanfish. Mr Zan had knocked off early so I didn't see him. Apparently he wanted to watch his favourite TV show. Charlie Sheen in Tuna - Half Men..

Wow. In the Middlesbrough game the result was everything but today it was the performance which gives real optimism for the season. Yes, on another day we might have conceded in those first 20 minutes and then the game would have evolved differently. Two saves from JayZee and some stalwart defending in that period turned out to be crucial.
In defence Cashin and Elder were simply superb. Their anticipation of through balls and timing of tackles were spot-on.
Adams and Ozoh were just sensational, especially the latter. At one point he seemed to have 3 Brizzle players hanging off him but was still powering forwards. The confidence they showed on the ball, even under pressure, spread through the team, so that instead of launching it away and readying ourselves for the next attack on our goal we were able to break effectively and in numbers so that we carried a far greater threat than they did. It could easily have been six or seven nil.
Kenzo was tremendous, so clever on the ball and quick on his feet. And though I was surprised Yates was given MOM I thought his was also a top-notch display, tireless throughout and real quality of touch and link-up play.
And of course huge credit to the manager. Next level stuff going forwards compared to what we have seen in the past couple of seasons. What a happy day.

Only watched the highlights, but thought those flicks & touches from Jez Yates were reminiscent of the way that the great CM used to set up chances for Brys et al 🤔
Just watched the highlights again. And again. And again.

Upon reading his career I didn't realise he was on trial with us during Pearson's brief spell. Pearson opted not to offer him a contract.
One touch passing in the last third is the stuff which breaks down defences. Some great fast passing exchanges worthy of the Premier league yesterday.
Cant decide who the imposter is, Paul Warne or Spart ? 🤔
Spart’s account has been hacked.

Interesting comments from the Brizzle forum :
For 20 minutes it was like men against boys and I thought it would be a case of not would we win but by how much. As soon as Derby stopped trying to take us on and sat in we had no clue and never got around them or behind them and in a more attritional game we then lost all the midfield battles and second balls so that if any team was going to open up it was them - and did they. A victory for direct play, and especially them putting their foot through the ball whenever they got a sight of goal. We simply didn't do so, they did, and could easily have won the second half 6-0 it was that one sided.
Sykes was utterly dire, he is a feast or famine player for sure. Some games he can be fantastic but when he's not he's really awful. I also thought both the ex Derby players were especially nervous or subdued - was it the occasion?
....must admit I didn't think Birdy or JK38 did much to influence the game...what do you guys think ?

Adams still has one in each if his pockets.
Interesting that they play Knight deeper and Bird as a 10. Knight was very quiet but I thought maybe he got a tiny touch that helped our third goal defeat their keeper so maybe he’s still a Ram at heart. I thought Bird took up good positions and looked sharp but once Warne instructed Ozoh to move forward a few yards the lines of supply were generally snuffed out. The physical presence of Adams and Ozoh must be incredibly intimidating to an opponent. They would need to have great ability to compensate for the mis-match in power and strength, and on yesterday’s evidence at least Bird and Knight are not at that level.
Once our midfield was reorganised the Brizzle midfield stood no chance. Ebou and Ozoh were totally dominant with Kenzo all class. Bird and Knight won't face that combo every week.
Try Bristol Live Football Sport and read the equivalent of Leigh Curtis - an amazing in depth analysis of the game, mainly re Brizzle of course but with some very complimentary comments about Derby. Sorry I could not find the link.

Ozoh's deserved plaudits had me thinking, we're unable to keep this player for another season unfortunately ( and must hope and pray Crystal Palace do not opt to recall him) but should we not have a young player to be an understudy to Ozoh's quality?
Thomson would ideally benefit learning from Ozoh but I can't help but think given his frame and structure Fornah's game could improve from watching and studying Ozoh close up.
In other news, Louie Watson, remember him ( I'd totally forgotten he existed until I saw the article) has had his contract terminated at Luton Town. Last played for Oxford United on loan and most likely will be returning to L1 to seek pastures new. Could have been a Derby regular had he stayed.
Didn't listen to all of the RD programme this evening but I do agree the international break has come at the wrong time. Would have been great to face Cardiff this weekend after that win. But it gives us the opportunity to get the new recruits and squad to gel, work on our pattern of play and develop.
Are we going to see Nat Phillips in the first team line up for our next match or will he have to be patient?
