----------------------------------------------------------------------
True.
"Guaranteed goals" FFS
You'd think he was Haaland or Kane
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would they score more for Brentford?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Haaland almost has a goal a game for Norway so yes I reckon he would. Kane would also.
Put it this way. There's no way in hell Toney scores close to 67 in 68 PL games for City or scores 30+ in back to back seasons in the PL & Bundesliga.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whilst I agree, there is a case to be made that he could be the top scorer in the league if he played for a title contender.
I think he's a very good player, good numbers hampered by playing at Brentford.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't say you're obsessed with Toney yourself, Robbster, but maybe fair to say wanting to sign him has been one of your recurring topics. In this case, I don't see much difference between that and the recurring 'non-penalty goals not prolific' argument from Process.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’ve always wanted us to sign him but have resigned myself that we’re not gonna get him. I’ve always been reasonable in rating him. Process shows up on any Toney article and goes full on ‘he’s not any good’ 24/7 which just screams jilted lover to me.

I never said he's not good and you know that. As I said on a previous article I'd have happily signed him for a decent price if we didn't get Zirkzee.
My debate is against the "prolific", "guaranteed goals", "far better than Hojlund & Zirkzee" tags that have been put on him.
I'd have money on Toney to finish top scorer if he played for City and Haaland didn't.
He''s guaranteed goals.
I largely agree with you, Process. I'd see Toney as an asset in our squad, but was mainly doubtful of the signing because of his age/cost relative to the short-term and not quite elite impact he'd bring. That said, did Toney ever pass on to you a dodgy betting tip?

Gambling is illegal in Saudi isn't it? Perhaps Toney has a real problem with it that we don't know about so removing that temptation will do him good.

Yep I'm sure its that and nothing to do with his salary going from 18k to 300k a week. Good on the lad for wanting to fight his demons no matter that it takes!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard to blame Toney too much.
He's 28 and still apparently on the same contract he signed at Brentford when they were in the Championship so quite small money in football terms.
It doesn't look like any of the PL big boys are in for him either so he might as well take the money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mean, it’s exactly the same thing. Nobody else is offering what Napoli want.

Hard to imagine there were no clubs willing to come in for either Osimhen or Toney at yhthe relatively low fees being discussed.
Do you guys watch football or just look at stats? I've never rated Toney because of goals. Ive watched him play, inc vs my team wheres hes been one of the best players give our def a test. Guys brilliant at linking teams and has been outstanding for Brentford. Not overrated at all imo.
If you seriously think he just scores pens and overrated i have to doubt you've ever watched him play and/or know anything about footy.

Apparently Al Ahli have a deal agreed for both Osimhen and Toney. There is a limit of 8 foreigners per team and they already have 7,so it could come down to a choice of 1 of the 2. Unless they shift someone on. Both players appear to be holding on for a move to a big European move instead.
The move to SA makes sense for Toney. He has the opportunity to make money far beyond what his career and ability would usually allow. I would be disappointed to see Osimhen take the money at this stage of his career.
