While he clearly needs to go we are also incredibly light in midfield so the fact we can't replace him (unless there's a freebie going) would seem a bit pointless getting rid.

I'm sure he has some use, just maybe not against sides like Liverpool.

Welcome to Manchester United Adrien Rabiot

Tbf he is the weakest area in the squad. Wouldn’t be against it if we went and got a midfielder in Jan

at least he'll be able to run, rabiot, run

Ironically perhaps there might be some legs to this story.

It's also quite ironic that two years ago we were quite relieved at not signing Rabiot and getting Casemiro instead. Now, I'd probably accept that trade.

Eriksen imo is a better option than Casemiro, especially next to Ugarte

which is more than can be said for casemiro

Eriksen has his uses but is still not good enough really. I read that any Rabiot deal is off?

How did people think Collyer did on Sunday, a massive game to throw him into when 2-0 down so always going to be a massive ask for the lad. I think I was 6 pints in at that point so don't have the best view.

Casemiro out and Rabiot in on a short term deal. Maybe 2 years with an option for 1 more.

Id be absolutely fine with this and actually think we'd be better off for it. It probably won't happen though.

I read that we under no circumstance are going for Rabiot

Where was this?

If it were to do with wages perhaps he'd accept a lesser deal now to get a contract?

Ten Hag won't sign him though I suppose because the Frenchman has hare.

When would this be? January? Or now?

posted 2 weeks, 1 day ago

Rabiot might not be the solution (however short term) but the club would be incredibly naive to get rid of Casemiro and not have someone in to take his place with how few CMs we have.

The club should have been fully aware of Casemiro's capabilities before the Liverpool game and any need for CM reinforcements.

I'm not a fan of Rabiot but if he can be signed on a 1 year deal and we get Gala to pay for most of Casemiro's wages then surely that's better than nothing?

BTW, why do Turkish clubs loves bringing in past players and paying them a good wage? How do they afford it?

I'd see Rabiot as a player we could stick next to a DM in order to manage the number of minutes Mainoo plays this season. Not the player I would choose in that role, but I'd take him now the window is shut and there's no one else in the squad who can deputise. I don't really see him as a replacement for Casemiro or rotation for Ugarte (who may himself take time to acclimatise in the PL).

Are there any other players out there we would be free to sign? Is Collyer about to have a Mainoo-style breakout season? Is Dan Gore?

Fair enough. I'm reading that last line as a 'things can change' line though. Nobody really knows do they. For all Casemiro's faults we really can't be getting rid of another senior midfielder at this stage IMO. That would leave Ugarte, Mainoo, Collyer, Eriksen, Mount and Bruno really until January at least. I'd back moving Casemiro on though, and not getting a replacement, if there was some nonsense going on behind the scenes.

He said: “I can guarantee you that Adrien Rabiot has been offered to Manchester United several times over the summer, in July and August.

“The position of United has been very clear. They never thought about Eriksen out, and Rabiot in. But he’s one of the interesting names to follow.”

Any here? https://x.com/BBCMOTD/status/1831230891038753064

I thought Ben Yedder as a short term forward option too until someone pointed out his alleged crimes to me.

Still dealing with scrap in midfield.

I remain a firm believer that our youngsters are as good as all the hasbeens we keep digging around for. And will improve with time will the others just get worse.

Talking of nasty people, did you read Marseille bought another r-pist and a murderer on top of Greenwood this summer. But probably worse than all of them, they also got Maupay.

Rabiot for Casemiro could work.
