We were frustrating them up until the FK. Then lost shape and composure. Sheff looked very professional though, with their glass ceiling football.

Anything would have been a bonus against these promotion favourites and to keep it tight and only lose on an excellent free kick does speak volumes for our side

Very disappointing. That must be Nels' worst performance for us, frequently surging forward and then promptly losing the ball creating defensive problems. Cash did it too but not quite as often. We did virtually nowt down the flanks and Kenzo hardly showed. We perhaps should have scored in the first minute and NML hit the outside of the post but that was it - a day off for their goalie. Good job JWZ was on form and due to the short wall he stood no chance with the free kick. No-one stood out - too much giving the ball away but Ebou was MOM for a whole-hearted 96 minute display. Harness looked useful and it was good to see the forgotten man, CBT. Otherwise a game to forget.

Pretty much agree with Chicago there. We need to put our performance in context with the quality of the opposition who I thought were excellent in every aspect of their play. I had thought Kieffer Moore wasn't much more than a lump but he had a brilliant first touch and showed awareness with some deft flicks. They have quality everywhere and were relentless in harrying us into mistakes. They were tireless.

It's not a wake-up call because we already knew that some clubs are way ahead of us. We are playing catch-up with what has happened to us over the last few years. We will get days like this and worse this season. It's no drama. We've had a great start to the season, all things considered.

I agree Vidal - no need to panic about this. While Sheff U were much better than us, they should be after all. It could take a good two more seasons for us to catch up. That said I also feel that not much went for us but that's probably because they were indeed relentless with their press thereby harrying us into mistakes.

PS Anyone else doubt that there was even a foul which led to the award of the free-kick and hence goal? On the other hand Ozzie did not complain much.
