OK, the ref called Walker over and then let Arsenal take the free kick quickly. You could argue that Walker was in position, but my thoughts (and alot of other people's) is that Walker was back literally within a tenth of a second and wasn't "set". The ref shouldn't have played until he was happy Walker was back in position AND SET as he was the reason Walker wasn't set for the free kick.
The free kick was also taken about 6 yards further forward, which I wouldn't have a huge issue with but taking the above into account I think this has an impact on Walker being set and in position.
Arsenal gained an unfair advantage IMO as a direct result of those 2 things.
P. S. for transparency, I know a few say the 2nd goal could have been a free kick but I disagree and thought it was a perfectly legitimate goal.

Acting dumb now. Szobozslai of course. Angered by the refs call and hammers it away from where he had clearly fouled an opponent. Yellow all day long.
Walker got back into position, was level with the rest of his back 4 and was shouting orders across the line. How more set does he have to be? He wasn't moving towards Martinelli further across, he was set in his position.

Watching my sons u13 game this weekend, the opposition coach was repeatedly moaning at the 14 year old ref, the opposition parents were similarly moaning at the ref and shouting the odds and guess what, the opposition kids repeated the same behaviour they saw from the grown ups/leaders/mentors/parents and were also a moaning argumentative bunch. It reminds me of watching Arsenal, with Arteta jumping around on the sidelines, contesting every decision, watching his players follow suit and hearing their fans moan about everything they think is going against them . It's very easy to take a natural dislike to these teams/people.
As much as a ref wants to be totally impartial, it is human nature that they will probably lean in favour of the team that isn't acting like annoying spoilt kids. The benefit of the doubt may be given, a bit of leniency rather than strictly applying the letter of the law.
Both the 2nd yellows have been harsh punishments but both have been earned.
Arteta is a smart manager who seems to leave no stone unturned in his quest for improvement. However I think he has a blind spot here and if he had an approach of more of a charm offensive than just moaning then that subconscious bias a ref may have may fall more on his side. They may get the benefit of the doubt a bit more. I think Klopps Liverpool suffered a lot in the same way. Constant barrating of officials did his team few favours IMO.
Arsenal and Arteta need to wise up rather than moaning. Constantly blaming others means you do not tend to reflect on your own behaviour.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There might be a grey area where so decisions are subjective. What we are talking about is very definitive if you kick the ball away then it's a yellow card. It's clear for all to see that law is not being applied consistently. Arsenal players need to wise up but the rule should be applied to everyone and seems like some are getting away with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's about delaying the retake.
If you are referring to the Doku thing then he kicks the ball back towards where the foul was and he isn't actually stopping the free kick. Rice by contrast kicked it away from a player trying to take a FK.
The other one in the BHA game thr player is off the pitch, so is rhe ball and he boots it into the stand. With the multi ball system, he's not delaying any taking of a throw-in. Trossard on the other hand boots the ball off the pitch after the whistle. One is delaying the retake, the other isn't.
You have to understand the rules and the circumstances of each incident. It isn't a yellow every time
Saliba was done in theNLD as he committed a foul, picked the ball up and jogged away with it.
Your players need to wise up and even more so that you Rw repeat offenders and a team that has no issues with a bit of time wasting to slow the game down etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Come on that Pedro one was blatant. If it's really about delaying the game then why was Rice sent off given that it was the Brighton player who was delaying the game by taking the free kick from about 10 yards from where it should of been taken from and the ball wasn't even stationary.

I don't think anyone has said the Trossard red was wrong in isolation. The issue is the lack of consistency, the lack of game management by refs who are more than happy to allow the opposition off as to not have a "negative impact" on the game.
When you literally have two high profile refs come out and state they went against the laws for their own benefit to help Spurs you have to wonder what goes on with those not so open. But it isn't so much of an issue when your club is the benefactor.

Yes I did, I replied directly with a reason why. Have a look through and read it and then reply with your reason why you disagree. It's what you do.
Found it funny that John Brooks, a ref who was demoted for his horrendous VAR errors last season and who couldn't see Vicario handle the ball outside the box on Saturday, was given such a big game as VAR. Add that to Oliver getting the game after such a high profile error in a fixture between the two clubs and the obvious conflict of interests with his all expenses trips to the Middle East it makes you wonder how Howard Webb picks who refs the game.

OK so you have answered it. On your view the ref wrongfully sent off Trossard and correctly allowed your goal. Every decision you get in your favour is right and every one not in your favour is wrong.
We all have different opinions I spose. You crack on.

Awful straw man mate, I never said Trossard shouldn't have been sent off and I haven't really seen anyone
You're choosing to see that instead of us just calling it a silly rule that isn't applied consistently
You also haven't really talked about our first goal at all, just used it as an example of us benefitting without any explanation

Oh it is. I don't like my team to benefit from poor refeering. I call it out. I also coach u12s and will let the ref know if he gives us a decision and it was a mistake.
It's not what I'm about.
