yeah not much in it, be an interesting game
Think Spurs have the better team. Can't see many United players in a combined XI, Onana vs Vicario probably goes in favour of Uniteds man.
Spurs back 4 probably take all positions, Martinez doesn't cut it for me while it is early to judge de Ligt.
Too early to judge Ugarte, but I would put Bruno into the midfield. Spurs take the other places.
Son gets in, while again it is hard to judge who Uniteds first choice wingers. Garnacho maybe on current form. Solanke vs Zirkzee/Hojlund is difficult choice but again you would favour Solanke based more on last season.
United are hard to judge due to not yet really having an established XI.
I know this going to sound biased but in terms of the first 11, only really Mainoo and Fernandes you could argue would get into the Spurs side. We don't have as much strength in depth but no one from your defensive line gets in ahead of ours and I don't think anyone up top would either. Maybe, at a push Garnacho.
You win on squad strength, we win on team strength.
You'll win on Sunday though. For some reason, you always seem to turn up against us at Old Trafford.
Before the Brentford game we had an overrated, overhyped squad according to many Spurs fans. Probably now it's one of the best in the league.
Pretty sure that's how it works.
more experience in the united squad
Who’s is the most expensive?
Yeah interesting game - i think both teams have less points than their performances merit.
I'd say Spurs have the better first 11 tbh, our squad is probably a bit deeper though.
Onana
Porro Romero VDV Udogie
Bentacur Ugarte Fernandes
Kulu Hojlund Garnacho
I’d normally have Son over Garnacho but feel Son is very much on the wane, whilst Garnacho is on the way up. Fernandez and Maddison is up for debate too.
I think Spurs have marginally the better side, but Spurs are woeful on the road, especially at the so called big sides United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc.
So I am expecting nothing but a United win. Anything else would be a massive bonus.
Spurs are in a healthier position than us, we've been a bit of a mess for years and only seem to have looked like being run more normally this year.
Both sides have had a poor defeat to their biggest rivals this season but other than that Spurs have looked more convincing which is understandble.
Spurs seems to be a far more free flowing side who are a bit too exposed at the back (even though they have a couple of very solid CBs). Us on the other hand have fixed our defence and seem to be a more solid side (4 cleansheets out of 6 games) but lack the ability to score many.
I think with players such as Mainoo, Garnacho, Amad, Hojlund and Zirkzee we have some real talent but maybe they're not quite ready yet (at least to be a top 4 side) whereas Spurs seem less reliant on youngsters and the ones they do have (like Bergvall and Gray) are being eased in.
United have the two best young centre backs in Europe in Martinez and De Ligt. With the best young centre back in the world still to come in and make his debut.
Shaw is the best left back in the world at the moment.
Ugarte is the best defensive mid in the world, only Rodri comes close.
Best attacking mid in the world in Fernandes.
Best young wide forward in the world in Garnacho.
Best young striker in the world in Hojland when he's back. World class back up in Zirkzee.
One of the best forwards of his generation in Rashford. From is temporary.
Only Son from 5 years ago would get in this United side.

FFS, Barry!
I think if you do the combined XI, there are not many Utd players getting in the Spurs team.
May be Utds bench has a bit more experience on it where as Spurs has either potential like Gray & Bergvall & Odobert, and then some OK players like Davies, Werner and Richarlison. Nothing that really says, game changing quality, to either lock down or go full attack.
In terms of how each team plays, I have always thought that their biggest problem under ETH has been a lack of goals. We're on the same points now and they have a 0 GD and we have 4. They scored 5 us 9. Last season us +14 them -1. GF 76 vs 57.
Dont feel they have really addressed that problem either in terms of creation or finishing.
Our issue is that we will give them a chance.
pound for pound i think Spurs edge it. But at OT, we need to turn up if we want to take 1 or more points. If we go toe to toe I think Spurs win as we score a lot more than them. It Utd sit back and counter, then it could go either way.
Devonshirespur
We had 2 major issues last season, scoring goals and being way too open, the number of shots we conceded week in week out last season was mental.
EtH seems to have at least sorted out the defensive issues with the signs of de Ligt, Yoro, Urtage and Mazraoui but we still clearly have issues at the other end.
Hojlund and Zirkzee are both young and need time to develop. Hojlund is the more obvious choice for goals but I think Zirkzee is someone who could help us score more from other areas. Going to be interesting to see how both get on this season.
Dont feel they have really addressed that problem either in terms of creation or finishing.

Creating chances really hasn't been a problem for us this season. Finishing them though - yeah, absolutely

Yeah, but what's interesting is that the media will say that we've had a poor start to the season and that United are improving. It's ridiculous. We've played pretty well in most games and United haven't been all that great at all but you wouldn't know it.

Problem with your strikers is that neither looks like they're gonna get big numbers, 20+ a season. Just don't seem like natural finishers. So unless you have a Saka / son combo out wide, who will get 10-15 each then you are going to struggle to hit the 70-80+ goals.
vs Palace you definitely worked some nice positions, looked more creative & imaginative, let down by final ball or finishing, although it dried up a bit in teh 2nd half.
Intrigued to see how you set up against us. There is a blue print to beat us which may not sit comfortably for United fans at home. Will ETH be pragmatic or will you continue to try and play his new way of being more controlling and front foot?
We are on the same number of points as Spurs but they have a goal difference of +5 and we have a goal difference of 0.
This shows that United are the tougher and more resilient side. If Spurs are scoring that many and not winning then it just shows that they must be conceding as many as they are scoring. United keep the score down to ensure that we don't concede more than we score and that is reflected in our goal difference.
It doesn't matter how many you score if you are letting them in at the other end in the same way.
