i red Allegri is gonna b the new coach
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He wouldn't be a bad appointment tbf compared to others being linked. At the very least we'd be better organised.

Running out of viable options really. A lot of managers will be out off coming here. It's not good for your mental health.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeh, at least he would know how to set the defence up and a midfield in front that would actually offer some protection. A much more paletable option than Southgate.

I personally think Southgate would have a similar effect at Man U to the one Hodgson had at Liverpool and would be rejected by the supporters in the same fashion and sacked within about 6 months so if the Man U heirarchy just want a temporary but calm transition instead of what I suspect would be more fan discent and all round carnage under Southgate they should give Van Nistelroy the reigns and like Devonshire says reassess in the summer.

If they still decide they want a new man in charge by then more will be known about McKenna's credentials for example and his suitability plus a few other far more suitable candidates than Southgate which I'm just gobsmacked he's even under consideration for what is, and even as a Leeds fan I have to admit, still one of world footballs most prestigious and elite club manager's jobs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah but then the fans are part of the problem, if you are not prepared to give a manager a fair crack of the whip.

You cannot just point at the glazers or whoever if you are hounding a manager out after no time at all. You did it with Moyes, gave him too few resources, expected change overnight and were disappointed.

I heard a comment on a podcast the other day with one pundit saying he never thought he'd see the day when a Man Utd manager could lose 14 games, come 8th and keep his job.

The reaction to Moyes was because of the recency of your success.

The reaction to whoever comes in next should also reflect where you have been recently. You need someone right for the next step because if you looked at the likes of Alonso or Amorim, they'd still be stepping in to a cauldron of massive expectations, growing frustration and impatience and handed a pretty meh squad of players

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Alonso would bet a good option. Not sure whether he would make the move to United though? Possibly.

Genuine question.

Has any reputable journalist ever linked us to Southgate?

I hope I’m right but any link to him just seems like clickbait fabrication.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It could be BS or it could be genuine; we simply can’t be sure, all depends on which side of the fence we're occupying or choosing to occupy. What we do know is that our fall from grace is newsworthy and generating revenue for online news outlets, whether reputable or not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And linking us to Southgate feeds right into that. I can’t see any reason why we would go for him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

- Two finals reached
- Consistent tournament qualifications
- Solid yet inspiring playing style
- Good man-management skills

These credentials suggest a candidate possibly ideal for a club in need of stability and structure amid all the chaos. While he doesn't make my long or short list of candidates, it’s possible the sporting leadership are seeking a particular managerial profile to see us through this transitional phase of the new structure. This phase involves a complete overhaul of the squad over 3/4 windows before appointing a first-choice manager who can align with club's ambitions to deliver "Project 150" by 2028, by winning the league. ETH received full support from Berrada in a recent staff meeting; however, this could change depending on future results.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A complete squad overhaul.

How the feck can we need a complete squad overhaul after all the money we have spent?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spent on players, yes. However, the squad hasn’t been completely overhauled—there’s still deadwood that hasn’t been removed. Additionally, several areas within the team remain unaddressed. This isn’t difficult to understand, Elvis.

We don’t need a completely squad overhaul; but we do need the players reconditioning.

Maybe we should give the old Ludovico technique a go, my brothers? Blast an ickle bit of Ludwig Van out, whilst they’re forced to viddy footage from the Spurs game and ETH dishes out horrorshow tolchocks to their gullivers?

IMO Part of your problem in the transfer market is the trajectory players are on when you buy them:

Casemiro - Best years behind him. Massively over paid.
Eriksen - Best years behind him
Onana - Stock on the rise but from a low base
Urgate - Young but someone who had 1 impressive season and then moved and failed to impress
DeLigt - Highly experienced but Munich prepared to sell

Martinez & Antony - doing well in the Dutch league which traditionally hasnt been a greater marker - Zirkzee similar.

Mazraoui - Bit part player at Munich.

WHere you have looked to get players in who have a lot of their career ahead of them, you have typically overpaid - Antony, Rasmus and a lot has been expected of them immediately, and that can limit or even stop their development.

Players like Sancho are just poor players due to their attitude. You did the right thing on him, scouted well, didnt over pay, young player, great numbers from a really well run club - So they dont all work but I feel like you havent given yourselves enough of a chance for your signings to work because you have brought in players who are not exactly on the up or at their peak and are dropping them into a difficult pressurised situation.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding recent expenditures, the new regime will assess which player to retain and which to sell to further shape the squad. Decisions already made without a professional sports operation for players are a calculated risk that Sir Jim and his team are prepared to take in order to shape the squad with their with "Project 150" vision, and deliver a league title by 2028.

It's perfectly understandable to be shocked by the waste of resources, but I would be just as surprised by the quality of players brought in by incompetent individuals such as Murtough!

It needs an overhaul, Rosso. Ashworth has already started this with good, young signings, and we can expect significant changes in upcoming transfer windows until we have two quality players for every position.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I wasn't attacking you, you jumped-up-one-eyed-crotch-piece. I was pointing out that its mad that we need a complete squad overhaul, considering all the money we have spent in recent years.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, Elvis, let's be clear. Where have I said it was an attack on me? My response was cordial, unlike yours. Stop flirting with me! 😁

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Patronizing me, telling me something isn't difficult to understand, when you've got the wrong end of the stick. Wind your neck in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd suggest you calm yourself, Elvis!

Genuine question.

Has any reputable journalist ever linked us to Southgate?

I hope I’m right but any link to him just seems like clickbait fabrication.

Rosso, who do you recommend as the best person to apply the old Ludovico technique on our squad?

Forza? Barry?!

😂

Greg. He’s even more pessed off with the players than I am.

Give it to Greggsy ‘til the end of the season.

Is he the one who constantly targets Onana for criticism, even when he's not on the field? It's bizarre why someone would focus on one player, it's bordering on obsession!
