If the players mess up or do not try sadly its the manager that carries the can. Players will never be held responsible and are given a free pass pretty much.
If clubs started to do something about players then there would be a lot transfer listed players or downing of tools.
They are classed a financial assets until they get to a certain age. Managers are always expendable.
Some observations:
Either Ange is too stubborn or stupid to think he can continue to play without any tactical compromise or adjustments in games.
He has been backed to an extent but probably not got the players he actually wants or wanted and has made his mind up that it ain't going to work and is just biding his time for a pay off.
The players are simply knackered in games trying to play the system Ange wants and just run out of steam.
Some players are just hearing noise now and are not listening to Ange.
Players are simply just not good enough or not a good enough blend as a collective to be consistent.
I would just like to see some on field intelligence from players or the captain. When they see they are under the kosh start to tighten up defensively as a unit, work a bit harder for 5-10 mins etc. Not just throw in the towel. Just needs one or two of the to show a bit of Gusto and bravery at times and the rest will follow.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly this is really starting to annoy me.
People are referring to Ange's tactics and giving that for the reason we lost a game.
WHAT in that game came down to tactics?
The tactics we used had us 2-0 up and very comfortable, 70% possession.
The failure was for the team to compete in the second half, to make individual errors costing us goals.
We weren't beaten because we played a high line a high press and inverted FBs, because actually that is how BHA played in the second half.
Even their players said there was nothing tactical changed at half time, it was just upped levels of commitment and energy.
I find this "lack of tactical compromise" to be a very lazy narrative that simply does not stand up to proper examination of the actual reasons why we lost, and that is a case for most games we have lost this season (may be NUFC was a result of a poorly executed press and high line).
FFS Devon, whatever it is it needs fixing.
Buck stops with the manager, so stop making excuses for him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is exactly what should be happening.
Not just tightening up but just being more careful in possession. What i see a lot is us under the kosh, being pressed and trying 30-40 yard passes from the back into midfield. High risk, often results in us giving up possession and our team is all out of shape and easily got at.
There needs to be more intelligence in these moments.
One tactical thing that i think we don't do enough is look to ping over the top. Clever runs from the wide players in particular, turning the defenders around, making them chase back. It puts doubts in their minds about the space they are leaving as they press us high. I dont see enough of that and while not something Ange should be shouting from the side lines, it should be an option that is put in the players head at training, pre match, HT.
Basically, we just need to be smarter, in the way you say and also in the decision making, to better manager games.
I do not like to be too vocal as everyone by now knows i believe Ange is tactically the 20th best in the league.
Another premier league manager outclassed him again and if he is like that in front of the cameras do we think he might be the same in the dressing room?
Has to go now sadly there is no future with him at all. We are looking at 8th/9th with him and certainly cannot win a cup with his lack of nous.

explain yourself!
Why is he tactically the worst? You say he was outclassed this week but that was only the case for the 2nd half. What about the total dominance of the first half. How did BHA tactically out do us?
His tactics got us to 5th last year. How do you explain this?

He saying unless the players man up and compete, then it doesn’t matter what players he puts on the pitch, they’ll get turned over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly.
And fans can also extend that to systems of play. Parked bus, all out aggressive high press high intensity, if you do not compete then you get what you deserve regardless of systems, subs, tactical tweaks etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But surely if this is a player mentality issue, it only applies to those fecking things up on the pitch. To assume it's a club-wide issue and giving up is the equivalent of flipping over the monopoly board and refusing to play. That's what the bench is for. How else are the other lads going to get a look in if they're not given a chance when the first 11 fail? That's THE time to make subs. Show them up. Give the first 11 something to think about.
Ange's comments about us not deserving the points which drove his decision not to make changes is astonishing in it's lack of professionalism. Players make mistakes, players often lose rhythm and tempo. Things go wrong. Does that mean he'll refuse to make changes every time we play poorly? To coin Roy Keane, THAT'S HIS FECKIN JOB!!!!
I think Sunday is a watershed moment for the club. Where it goes from here is anyone's guess but we've learned a lot about him and he's learned a lot about us. Honestly, the look on his face said to me that he's wondering whether it's all worth it.
I guarantee you, if another big club come calling, he's off. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go for the United job.

Outclassed by Gary O'Neill twice. The exact same way.
Marco Silva fulham away stood there on the touchline no answers. Completely outclassed by a lesser side.
De Zerbi completely outlclassed in the away brighton game last season.
Guardiola we did not lay a glove in the two home games completely nullified.
Poch with a makeshift 11 after we got battered at home by Arsenal and needed a rebound. Completely tactically outclassed him.
Leicester away no response to Steve Coopers tactical change.
These are all games off the top of my head where Ange did nothing. There was nothing on the pitch to suggest he had any idea of how to change things.Just shakes his head. He looks and sounds clueless thankfully everyone is picking up on it now.
Brighton first half was good but was it that good!? Madders goal was lucky that Verbruggen let it slip.
You cannot go in having had a good half and then come out and get blown away by Brighton. Waiting to change things because he has no clue. The world could see Werner and Udogie were a problem but not ange.
That is no diss to Brighton who will finish above us this season.
Whether Sunday was on the players or Ange is moot for me
Not making a sub when it was obvious where the game was going was a nonsense
Then to say he didn’t cos it wouldn’t have made a difference due to the players appetite (words to that effect)
Shocking comment …..struggling to stay positive with him as boss but I’m trying
I won’t go all Ange out unless we see a repeat of that 2nd half of the season form …..if that happens again he has lost the dressing room for me and I’ll want him gone

We had as many good chances as they did, and if we are talking about mistakes then we handed 2 of their goals to them, especially the first.

Ted, does come across as very simple if he cannot see that the players were at fault for the goals at Brighton.
Ange could have made the subs a bit quicker. But in no way could he be blamed for pure player incompetence. Romero standing like a statue allowing Welbeck a free header one such piece of incompetence.

Romero is , as Lionel Messi put's it, "one of the best Center Backs in the world"
As Captain of Spurs, he has the confidence of your hero manager, Ange!
Romero is definitely the best footballer on Spurs squad, perhaps Miky VDV runs second, when fit.

Whilst ignoring players can and do indeed influence games, leading by example, leadership in general etc. He was wrong to make such a statement. He could have had a talk with sub before sending on to try and rally the team etc something thats harder to do on the side.
Saying ah m8 u know what doesnt matter wouldnt make a difference anyway is just wrong. So is the bit about falsley rewarded, so Brighton didnt deserve the win? they didnt deserve it based on one half either ffs tthey made changes and win the game. Makes no sense at all Ange.
Said similar above
I take the point Ange has made ref competing but to say making a sub would make no difference is a shocker of a comment
Subs are there for that….to make a difference
Subs want to make the first team so if they see someone half committed they will want to show they can offer more
I’m trying to give Ange the benefit of the doubt in that he worded it badly being angry with the players but that comment was a bad one and he will probably be asked about it in an interview soon

Messi is hardly likely to call a teamate rubbish publicly.
He made a comment last season responding to Dier's claims that Conte focussed too much on tactical work where he doesn't put any focus on it at all. He gave a sideways answer about how working on his football is tactical work - but essentially confirmed what Dier meant in that he doesn't take the opposition into consideration at all.
Why would someone who thinks like that put any consideration into the value of in-game management either?

What I cannot understand about this reported outburst from Aussieglue is that he is saying..."not my fault, its the players' fault".
That's not correct.
Its always the manager's fault.
That's what he's paid for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So Udoopgie swinging and missing at a cross = goal = Ange's fault
Bentancur not bothering to tackle/block the cross = goal = Ange's fault.
