Sounds like it could be a done deal. Can play DM and CB - sounds like a decent squad signing until the end of the season.
We could do with an extra body but he's only played 1200 minutes in the last 2 seasons, all from the bench.
He also hasn't had a pre-season
Gelderd, he's a seasoned pro who's played at the highest level, well. Dropping down to the Champo
will be easy. Plus he has this international break
and the upcoming one to get up to speed. Pros can
do that. Easy signing to make. That could at the
least add rotation to a thin squad.
According to wiki he's got 2 wives, there's a novelty.

Not sure I'd get away with that kind of comment.
Hope you're right about us signing him. At 34 he's no spring chicken but I think of the influential older players we've signed who've brought experience, leadership, teamwork and consistency to some of our trophy-winning sides. Earliest example in my living memory is Bobby Collins but the most notable ones include McAllister and Strachan. In some of the matches we've failed to get the points we deserved, it's been down to sheer naivety and lack of worldliness. No names mentioned, Mr Meslier...

Or Mr. Aaronson. The goalkeepers mistakes are the most visible but why is missing open goals less important. This is what outfield players practice all the time.
As for Kouyate sounds like a good deal. Were one CB injury away from disaster.
Sensible if true. Heard we wanted Kramer too but he doesn't want to join, Farke managed him at Monchengladbach, not confirmed though.

Rodon one booking away from a suspension, Struijk 2 bookings, last year we had a good disciplinary record, this year, small squad and our whole defence go crazy, we can cover Firpo and Bogle with Schmidt and/Byram and I know it's just one match but they have to get to match 19 (Derby) without picking up those bookings. Having someone else who can cover both centre back positions so we are not so reliant on James Debayo or even Mullen or Lopata-White will be a great pressure relief.
Now if we can only get Gnonto to stop picking up stupid self inflicted bookings I will be mighty relieved.

If you were to ask worst player in the 1st 11, by a country mile has to be Meslier.
To single out BA in that Portsmouth game seems unfair, he dragged us back into a game we were losing because of the errors of the rest of the team in particular Meslier. Yes Aaronson missed an easier chance than he scored but he is not the only player to miss chances Largie has, Struijk has, Joseph too.
Of the 7 goals we have conceded this season, Meslier should have done better on five of them.

I mentioned Aaronson because I just don't think he's what we need in that position.
Everyone misses at some time, some more than others. A goal at either end is worth the same but mesliers error was harder to take being the last kick of the game.
Going to have a look at all 7 goals again to see if I can pick out the 5 you think we're stoppable.
Its easy to sit at home, or wherever and press a few buttons playing the blame game, but think on, those of you's that have ever tried to play football, how many of you's have done things to perfection?..
Its time to move on and leave Meslier alone, its bad enough for him to try and move on to the next game with the crap he's getting, he should be supported and helped to get it out of his head and do better the next game!..
He's not the first and he won't be the last keeper to have a freak goal scored against him!..
I am reading that the according to Adam Pope and others the deal isn't as close as we have been led to believe. Apparently this is because of fitness issues. Additionally, the medical that allegedly went ahead on Friday may possibly have not happened.
I can't see this deal happening and we may as well blood the youngsters if necessary....I mean what's the worst that can happen?
After Sunderland I think we can safely say we've seen it
all and even a young inexperienced teenage player knows the rudimentary basics of the game and are pretty well drilled, fit and disciplined in what to do and I do not think they would let us down.
Had Cresswell still been an option for example or the lad out on loan at Plymouth despite not being the quickest supposedly they would have definitely been better than a half fit injury prone aging player that is out of contract and still demanding a high wage.

Am now reading that the Leeds hierarchy have decided not to go ahead with the move for Kouyate, would guess down to fitness issues. Admittedly this is in Football Insider and may not be the most reliable of sources.
I did hear the guy was out injured more often than not - so couldn’t blame the ‘hierarchy’ for rejecting him. However, what I do blame them for is settling for a squad that is easily the smallest in the division while having the resources to sign at least another 2 players - all the while having the temerity to boast of demonstrating massive ambition for the club. You can put our present position down to bad luck, bad training methods or over-pampering, but before the last window even closed, many of us were forecasting trouble on the horizon. The hierarchy’s parsimony is now coming home to roost.

Last year he missed 6 games with a ham string injury
The previous three seasons he was available for all of West Ham's games, he had little niggle injuries in each season but they were insufficient to keep him out of any games. Ankle/head injuries.
In 2019 he had an ankle injury that kept out for three games over 22 days.
He was out for a further two games in 2019 due to knocks which kept him out for 9 days and 5 days respectively.
In 2017 he sustained an hamstring injury which kept out for 6 games over 20 days (that sounds a lot of games in a short period)
Again in 2017 he sustained a knee injury which kept him out for 3 games in 39 days.
2016 Groin strain 4 games out for 14 days
2014 Groin strain 6 games out for 29 days
2009 nose surgery 9 games missed out for 35 days
2009 broken cheek bone 10 games missed out for 62 days
2008 fatigue fracture 8 games missed out for 67 days
He has missed 383 days and 57 games I believe but actually the vast majority of this were in in his early career and I would say he was injury prone at all as he's aged.
