Its a Football Manager signing, the odds on him contributing anything to a promotion bid is minimal
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Am not sure people understand how hard the physical demands of football are now.
It would take months for him to get up to speed, he’s nearly 35 and hasnt basically had last 2 years off
For me, it's an
obvious yes. Get it done.
-----------------------------------------
well of course it is Batty... you'd sign anyone it seems...
how on earth would this be good signing?, mid-thirties and a crock... ffs.... pretty much the last thing we need.
how advanced is your championship manager in the states mate?
It has panic signing all over it but we are extremely low now on bodies with Gruev and Ampadu injured for some time. Lose another midfielder and we are relying on Charlie Crew. If he isnt fit then no deal but we do need an extra man. Doubt anyone would have expected two first team midfielders out for so long.
It looks like this deal has collapsed and that a recall for Gyabi from Plymouth can't happen until January so we must soldier on and hope AO, Rothwell and Crew can survive the rigours of the Championship without injury or suspension for 15/16 games.

It's make your mind up time for me. Just Joe saying it's going ahead and will be announced today.
Leeds are so frustrating as a club.
I'd rather us play Crew and the youngsters.
Bad move this if it happens.

Yep.
The thing about free transfers is they always seem like an easy option but like has been said its not championship manager where you can bring them in to cover and you just stick them into reserves for a couple of games and they are magically match fit and just slot in and perform at 7/10.
As liw said it takes weeks to get up to speed both physically and with style of play.
Half of me thought Daniel Amartey would be a decent option, played a good amount last year and has experience in England... but then it's just bringing in someone for the sake of it and thinking well he will do cause he is free and still in his twenties.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you'd rather be in a situation where our options were limited?
If Crew/Debayo are good enough they will start regardless of whether Kouyate signs or not. The fact that neither of them have made their debut would indicate Farke doesn't think they're ready.
Big step from warming the Welsh bench to being part of our promotion winning team.
It's on. It's off. It's on...
We could go two and a half months rolling the dice on
Rothwell & Tanaka stsying fit. And relying on a kid as
back up. That would be very Leeds. It's that mentality
that saw us fck up last January window and not go up.
Club could rinse and repeat past mistakes again.
Or, they could add Konate as insurance. He can play
CB and the 6. Wages shouldn't be an issue for our
ownership as they waste money on garbage already.
So, he's potentially good cover. If Crew emerges while
Konate's here, great. Not signing Konate would be so
LUFC.

A reason why we're here dreaming of how things should be, but in real life, would it not be better not picking an injury prone old bod with no minutes on his clock and using the youngsters we already have?..
You never know, these kids might not be up to scratch now, but minutes around the experienced players could work wonders for them!..
Gray came in and wasn't perfect his first no idea how many games, but he put a lot around here in their beds, that could so easily happen again if done correctly!..
Crew is no Gray. Not even close.
Trouble is, the club has spent two or three seasons
over valuing what they had in their squad. Just adding
two or three players of quality last January may well
have been the difference.
So, that means Crew given the chance couldn't improve on his game, I didn't say anyone was as good as Gray, I said Gray was given his chance and his first handful of games he got grief around here as well!..
Funny thing is Batty, you want Bamford out, but want this guy in, I'll work that out if he comes!..
Bamford's an expensive waste of space.
Konate might not be.

which positions, squad was stacked 🤷🏻♂️
Looks like hes signing. Like i said previously we needed back up and not much out there. Would have like to see Gyabi back but Farke obviously doesn't rate him. Hopefully the contract is only to the end of the season. Lets get behind the lad before writing him off before hes kicked a ball 👍
"Bamford's an expensive waste of space.

Might not be could be a big waste of space!..
Outwood, I'm all for supporting any player that comes to us, my only problem here is his age, fitness and game time, but hey, being an old man I know he'll be fit enough!.

I keep forgetting we had the greatest squad ever built.
Rumours Bamford wants out due to lack of playing time.
Please god be true.
Here's a question... When was the last time Leeds United signed an out of contract player outside the transfer window?
I genuinely can't remember without searching on Google but I do know the number of successful loan players which is slightly different to signing a free agent but nonetheless I can think of Ben White, Rodon, Barkley and Max Gradel being 4 very successful and effective loan players out of about 50 or so we've signed in the last 15 years and then I'm struggling.
The success rate in these type of emergency signings is
less than 10% so if this guy does sign for us obviously we all hope he can be more successful than that and makes a positive and worthwhile contribution to our promotion cause but the omens are not exactly encouraging on that score but time will tell.

If it's true about him being frustrated about a lack of minutes, here's another illustration how we need him out of the club.
Considering his fitness record & the fact he's a spent force, he should think himself lucky he warms a place on the bench.
