I heard it was Luke Shaw after he was told about the intensity of Amorim’s training sessions.

He’s made to look a lot better by the utter dross he’s been surrounded by at times and the carnival under Woodward and the glazers. Guy isn’t fit to lace Cantonas boots for example - that’s the definition of a legend
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bruno played his best football for us when our squad was stronger than its been the last three years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was still surrounded by some bang average players. In 2020 from memory you had Martial, DeGea, Fred and McTominey ffs. No wonder he looked so good
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or, you could argue, he dragged a bunch off dross up to second and third place league finishes.

Well, he's not that....

... but he's still the best player the club's had since he's arrived.

And I'm pretty certain that, at he's arrival, that that was not supposed to be the case.

That's not his fault, and I respect him for sticking around and playing along with the idea that rashford, mctominay, lindelof, dalot et al, have any meaningful footballing purpose (at the level required)

posted 2 days, 10 hours ago

Imo if Amorim gets it right and he gets us playing anything like an organised side in his preferred system, Bruno is going to be getting big numbers again and look a much improved player.

Anthony Martial was playing some of his best football for us around that time. It’s a nonsense argument, Bruno would look even better now than he did by your logic, but he’s regressed as the standard of the squad has declined. He also stands out massively for a star studded Portugal squad, having been their best player for a few years now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Martial playing his best football isn’t saying much. It’s like Gary Neville claiming he’s the better looking Neville brother ffs.

Also - this isn’t my logic, I’m responding to another post suggesting that Bruno played his best football 3 years ago when the United team was much stronger. I’m not sure it was.

There’s the top like Charlton and Robson, then you have a tier below that for the the likes of Giggs and Rooney, Bruno is probably a tier below that, but even then you can argue there’s a tier in between for the likes of Ruud, Stam, Evra…

posted 2 days, 9 hours ago

Alllls I’m saying is that if you put Bruno in a peak SAF side he’d look insanely good and would have a few titles alongside his name. Unfortunately for him he joined us during our Ole/Ten Hag years

----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you put me in a peak SAF side surrounded with the quality he built I’d probably look half decent.

He isn’t legend status. He’s nowhere near Cantona. Nowhere near Scholes. Nowhere near Rooney and I haven’t even talked about some of the greats 50s and 60s

If we are now getting to the stage of inventing tiers of legends to slot him in somewhere between Evra and Giigs then we have already have our answer as to whether he’s a United legend

Wow, less with the tiers of legends

I think there should be very few players considered legends - it should be reserved for those players who really have been special at the club. By its own definition they are few and far between.

So barring an amazing next 3-5 years, i doubt Bruno will be up there.

But has this thread just been created to throw more ammo at Bruno? I appreciate him as a player, our best performer over the past 5 years in what has been difficult times, and no doubt he would look much better if in a much better team from yesteryear.

Out of everyone, I've always had a soft spot for Bryan Robson. A real leader, and so often the standout player in a team that would struggle without him

Tier 2 of the legends so cult hero basically.

A guy who was a stand out in a field of schit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even on a two tier system, Bruno is not in Tier Two.

Tier One: Best, Law, Scholes, Charlton, Cantona, Giggs. Maybe one or two more.

Tier Two: Keane- Ferdinand- Vidic- Evra- Irwin

Bruno probably not in tier 3 just thinking about it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You missed Bryan Robson in your Tier1 list

As an outsider it seems mad Keane is in Tier two. Is that because of how it ended?

I'm gonna need to see a United legend tier list now.

No because his form at that time was among the better strikers in the league.

That reply to me was questioning your logic that he is made to look good by dross. The United squad when he first joined was blatantly much stronger, not sure why you are questioning that. And he was playing much better football then than he is now when worse players, by your logic, should make him look better.

You also failed to acknowledge the point that he stands out among all of Portugal’s top players, which makes your original point even more flawed.

One of the best in the clubs history. If Rodri can win the Ballon d’Or, Fernandes deserves one.👍 I can actually see he is so frustrated at Man Utd inept attackers.😂

No particular right or wrong answer. If you factor in leadership I suppose he is. My rating is based on unique talent and ability. Keane for me on footballing talent and ability is not part of tier one .

All of portugals top players? Like who? Joao Felix?! A 40 year old Ronaldo? Do me a favour - Portugal have some good players but it’s hardly like he’s smashing it for Spain or France ffs.

Slice it up anyway you want, if you think he’s a United legend then you’re a cretin

Portugal’s squad is as good as theirs. I’m sure you’ve also heard of a certain Bernardo Silva. I never said he’s a legend, I’m pointing out the flaws in your poor arguments about his level as a player.

Bernado Silva? That’s it? Portugal is not a team filled with World Class players. End of. There is no way that team is as good as France or Spain. There’s a reason those two countries have been more successful recently

How about Ballon d’Or nominees Rafael Leão, Vitinha and Ruben Dias?

How about Lev Yashin trophy shortlisted Diogo Costa?

Or World Young Player nominated Antonio Silva and Joao Neves?

I’ll give you Ruben Dias - but you can fack off with world young player of the year.

How about the likes of Mbappe, Griezman, Kante etc. Portugal don’t stack up against France
