A 7 game ban is outrageous. The comments were distasteful at worst and he clearly wasn’t trying to offend anybody. PC gone made. 12 years ago, John Terry called Anton Ferdinand a black cuuunt and only got 4 games for it.

This is an absolute joke and symptomatic of woke Britain and PC gone mad.

Luis Sewerez was banned for only 10 games for the disgusting act of biting Branislav Ivanovic.

Bentancur`s comments were described as a `racial slur`, they were nothing of the sort and Sonny was not even offended by it.

It was a racial slur. Just because Son want offended by it doesn't mean any if the billions in Asia weren't.

He deserves the ban. Infact, I think he got off lightly to be fair.

He didn't even say racial bomb like the N or P word or the equivalent for Koreans whatever that may be.

I'll let you work out what each word stands for. Had he done so, yeah throw the book. It was an off the cuff remark and the punishment does not fit the 'crime' one bit. Hope we appeal and common sense prevails.

It doesn't matter where the offence was committed, they can be banned for what they say on social media, when not representing the club. The fact of the matter is that he committed an offence against the FAs laws and they therefore had to dish out the relevant punishment.

I completely understand where you're coming from in regards to the club being punished but he plays for the club and the club play in an FA competition and therefore they have to act when he made the comments in a personal capacity and not like Enzo Fernandez, with his offence occuring when being with his international teams mates travelling from an international game and therefore under FIFA jurisdiction.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it actually does matter. Isn't he getting banned by the FA where Enzo isn't because he actually gave the interview while he was in England? Happy to be corrected but that's what I thought happened

Absolutely ridiculous punishment and completely draconian.

And yet nothing for the other Argentina players pictured / filmed making chants about black France players

Which includes Romero, just so you know. And probably that Lo Celso also

The irony of that comment must be lost on him. Why would billions of ASIANS be offended? Do they all look like Son, too? Bake em away has just inadvertently repeated Bentancur’s crime that he is so critical of.

No, it doesn't matter where the offence was committed. Due to him not being on international duty, since it was a private interview and not an interview for international commitments, it doesn't fall under FIFAs jurisdiction and therefore the FA can act.

Do you think if Bentancur said in interview that the first time he saw Kulusevski that he thought he was a Scot because he's ginger and pasty he would also be getting a 7 game ban

It is the mildest of racial slurs, based on a fairly harmless stereo-type, so 7 games seems too much for me.
