Also find it disgusting that so many people would be gruntled to see him being suspended by his club when he has not been found guilty of anything.

"In most circumstances, if someone is investigated for such accusations, the usual process in a work place is employees are suspended pending the investigation."

That's generally because it affects the employer or other employees - i.e. accused of bullying or maybe stealing from the company. Obviously it makes sense to suspend until things are sorted.

Not really the case here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely the case and no different to any other employment situation. And in fact given the high profile public existence of PL players, it is perhaps of even greater importance that someone in this situation is removed from their high profile public position until such time as the investigation is completed.

It will look very very bad on the club if a player investigated and charged and found guilty of rape has been allowed to play on in this time....and the same applies for most jobs.

How would your wife/GF feel about working alongside someone accused arrested and investigated for rape. If she came home from work and said " you know John, who I sit next to, he's been arrested and questioned about 4 rape charges and is being investigated" What would your response be....oh, lets get him over for dinner?

Just because this guy may play for your football club does that really change how the situation should be treated?

It's not about judging.

Suspending a player is about protecting all involved - accused, club/employer, victim. It's not judging that they are guilty, it's managing a very sensitive situation in the best interest of all parties (excuse the pun). Not responding just in the best interests of some.

You reckon the player should have been given a blanket ban for the past 3 years, no livelihood whilst this investigation goes on and on?

Nowhere I have worked has a person been suspended when under investigation by the police.

Most clubs would at least suspend an alleged s*x offender, pending an inquiry. But then nothing surprises me these days. The USA have just voted in a s*x offender as their President.

Well because if the police hadn't not done their jobs in the first place this would of never been a decision for the club to make

I want him to leave Arsenal but that’s because he’s not a very good footballer. The raaape case doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, not really surprising when the alleged perpetrator can afford the best lawyers in the country to defend him.

The whole thing makes me very uneasy but I have to hope the club know a lot more than we do and are acting appropriately. Stuff like the Mendy verdict really muddies the waters on stuff like this too.

If it comes out we've acted in bad faith and protected and played a known raaaapist then it'll really sour what Arteta is doing at the club.

posted on 13/11/24

The Mendy thing muddies it in many ways. Sure he's been found innocent of raaping those women but was he treating them like shiiit? And yes I hear you, that's not a crime. But it's really not something we - as a football community - need to be condoning or defending. How about you don't be a piece of shiiit during your short professional football career when the eyes of millions of young people are on you. When those women are only trying to be close to you because of your money and fame.

There's a delta between not being found guilty in a court of law and being a completely innocent person. Football clubs are entertainment businesses. The sport has it's own internal governance to protect its image as much as anything. Burying cases and continuing to employ individuals (looking at you BBC and Saville) that are known abusers who aren't in prison because of technicalities, or because they've paid people off, is not ok. And it speaks badly of the whole industry that it's tolerated

Don't disagree with any of that Bales.

posted on 13/11/24

Bales, regarding Mendy, you weren't even there, you're acting like know Mendy and because the media spin a story a certain way, you have just brought into the narrative.

Has Mendy told his side of the story? or are you just assume he is guilty because he is a footballer, he is a playboy and therefore male schlaag.

Another mug playing judge and jury without knowing all the facts and or without hearing both sides of story. I know, I believe The Sun!

Really clever Bales 👏🏻.

Giving evidence at Chester crown court, Mendy said that being in prison while on remand had made him “learn lots of things about life”. He said that he reflected on his behaviour while sitting in his cell, and realised only then that it was possible to hurt women’s feelings even “if we were both OK to have seeex”. The way he had sometimes spoken about women was “disrespectful”, he realised.

posted on 13/11/24

Mendy admitted not wearing a condom during any of the encounters, saying that while he knew the risks he “didn’t worry” about catching or passing on sexually transmitted diseases. The morning after having seeex with a 17-year-old he texted her to ask if she had taken the “morning after” pill.

posted on 13/11/24

tldr: he's not gonna shaag you mate. And if he does he'll make sure he takes your phone first, won't use a condom, and probably prefers it if you're a teenager that's just fuct a couple of his friends first
