The Mendy thing muddies it in many ways. Sure he's been found innocent of raaping those women but was he treating them like shiiit? And yes I hear you, that's not a crime. But it's really not something we - as a football community - need to be condoning or defending. How about you don't be a piece of shiiit during your short professional football career when the eyes of millions of young people are on you. When those women are only trying to be close to you because of your money and fame.
=====
Eh? Seems you didn't keep up with the news about the Mendy case and why he was found not guilty.

At the time, no. But when the facts came out during the hearing I couldn't believe my ears/eyes and realised he should have never even been suspended IMO.
I don't see how getting suspended "protects" the accused. It is premature punishment. It is also leverage to make the accused pay up quick to avoid suspension.
We know that some of these claims are pure extortion, like Mendy. We also know that some of these claims are real instances of rape. These days it has become harder for the public to tell which is which IMO.

After the Mark Pearson case, the Liam Allan case & the Roxanne Pallett case amongst others I don't assume any accusations of rape or assault are true - show me the evidence...

Also. I was tempted to say something like 'obviously you've never known anyone affected by rape or sexual assault' but then I realised that really shouldn't matter. You know women. And I'm sure they're good people. How about a bit of human fackin compassion and common sense.

In most circumstances, if someone is investigated for such accusations, the usual process in a work place is employees are suspended pending the investigation.
There are 4 allegations against Player X.
His club have had no issue playing him while being investigated. Therefore if suspended and found innocent then, logically, they would have no issue reinstating him. SO its not such a career killer that some are making out.
If found guilty, they probably have means to recover pay from the suspension period and his career would rightly be over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
interesting, so Spurs are in a title race (I know it's ab it over the top) and a random woman accuses Son of rape. Should Son be suspended until the investigation is over?.
Spurs literally bought a player under investigation for sexual assault, as mentioned already in this thread.

To be honest neither do I. I saw some of the messages and while they didn't look great for him, they weren't the entire conversation so don't prove anything. Even if they did, I'm sure the police would have the full conversation anyway.
On the one hand I don't want the club to have knowingly protected an offender, but if the allegations aren't true then it makes things a lot more difficult for those women who have genuinely been assaulted. Either way it's a bad outcome.
And yes I realize that not having enough evidence to convict someone doesn't mean they're innocent and realistically there's a decent chance that's the worst case scenario that we're in.

Without the CCTV Mark Pearson might well have gone to jail - the Police even used an expert to try & tamper with the CCTV evidence to make a conviction more likely :
