And no one knew what Alonso’s plans were before we sacked Ten Hag, it would’ve been a gamble to keep him whilst we’re dropping down the table on the off chance Alonso would’ve been available.
1) he wouldn’t have joined us as he’s a Liverpool guy
2) Amorim is more exciting. Why are you so scared of 3 at the back? This season is a bit of a free hit for him so he has plenty of time to get the squad up and running and successful with a new formation
Wasn't expecting a "ten Hag in" post at this late stage.
He uses a back three loads. He’s blatantly going to Madrid anyway.
Should tie up nicely with Amorim getting fired next summer. Welcome Xabi

He doesn't.
We got the better manager and results so far since he signed for us have shown that.
Bayern or Real could well be looking for a new manager next Summer so I'm sure it's there he'll be going. I'm hoping he'll be going to Liverpool though to be honest.
Unless he has changed his formation in the last few weeks, the basic premise of the OP is factually wrong: Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen plays with three centre backs. I also dispute the presumption that he would obviously be a better fit due to his past experience: I assume the team that vetted potential candidates were looking at much more specific details of potential managers' qualities and capabilities, not just whether he's ever worked in England and what league he's had managerial success in. Finally, as Robb has pointed out, it's quite a reach to assume he was ever attainable, given that he has a deep connection with Liverpool and with Real Madrid, who most probably intend to employ him next summer.
...apart from that, a typically well thought out opinion, tomatoes.
Back 3 gets back 4 this season in in the Bundesliga though doesn't it?
Think it's blatantly obvious he is Madrid bound.
Could potentially be a good fit for City if Pep leaves in summer but will he want to face a few seasons in the lower leagues? Not sure.

Sharticle of the year goes to.......
Let me just state this, the whole divide of manager in or out let's just stop this nonsense here.
If you are here as long as I have been, this started in the Moyes era.
Everyone and I mean everyone should be behind this manager. If this fella fails, let's all call it a day our club in the pits.
Lol... so no issues!! Back 3 is the future!!!!
Back three could work, depends on the current players adapting and whoever he brings in, load of maybes to be fair but if that's how he chooses to go then fair enough, let's see how it goes first
