I don’t think any league game is a free hit, but there’s a certain amount of lack of expectation that does take the pressure off.

I don’t think anyone is expecting to see United win tonight, and absolutely, standards are very low at present.

It would be nice to see United cause Arsenal some problems and for the new system offer some signs of encouragement - but in truth a lot of the personnel is wrong and we all know it’ll take time.

Could be an entertaining game, anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If we win tonight then we've been cheating mate as the game is tomorrow. 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oops.

I'd Say Salah is personally. He's been involved in over 70% of their goals this season which is the highest percentage of any player in the league.

Just makes the contract talks stalling even more baffling to me. Without Salah they'd be bang average.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

True but he'll be 33 at the end of the season, and apparantly wants a 3 year deal on his deservedly huge salary? Can see why Liverpool are cautious
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And for a player who has been good for them I'd agree. But he's been way better than just good and is still looking incredibly fit and hungry.

They'd be fools to not give him the cash. He's certainly earned it. I know they all love slippy Steve but Salah is the greatest player in PL history for me and by a country mile. Gerrard probably is second though tbf.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah I don't disagree tbh, but I think modern owners/clubs are very conscious of that one last big contract for a player right at the end of his peak so I see why.

but yeah if it was Saka in the same boat I'd say fack it give him a contract anyway

We did same with Rooney. It was an outrageous contract but looks at what the guy gave us. He's our top scorer of all time so it had to be done. You don't give away your legends when they are still performing at a high level.

Question marks on a few arsenal players availability like Partey, Merino, calafiori and gabby

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a draw
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope Partey is back. If he out for a couple of weeks he will lose all the momentum he has built up

It’s a free hit for us really, you’re expected to win.

Imagine if you don’t
----------------------------------------------------------------------
By the way the article is a clearly there to troll.

However, united isnt some relegation fodder club that has a free hit.

One of the biggest clubs in the world with one of the biggest squads and most expensive squads in the prem.

Always a big games and generally very close at the emirates
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We're always an awful team until it's time to play us

There shouldn't really be an excuse for not beating us, you're a title challenging team at home to a mid-table side who've just changed managers and don't currently have to best suited players to the new style of play.

We're also one of the most unfit sides in the league against one of the most fit.

I'm all for the banter, but if you want to win the title you should be winning these sorts of games. If it was Liverpool or City I'd understand the doubts.

Free hit. Shows how standards have fallen at OT.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Only just realising that the standards have fallen, or hedging your bets just incase?

Arsenal should be beating us, fairly easily too. They're 5 years down the line with Arteta so far further down the road of progress than Utd.

Even then, we've still won more than their one measly FA Cup in that timeframe

Bodo/Glimt XG 0.82 and scored 2. Everton XG 0.76 and scored 0. So in truth we were unlucky to concede 2 in our last 2 games.

FFS Chris. You are NEVER positive about Arsenal. I wouldn't take a 1-0 win right now. Want to see us embarrass them

Just makes the contract talks stalling even more baffling to me. Without Salah they'd be bang average.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Given that we’ve played a massive amount of games over the years without Salah, are you actually basing this in anything?

If I'm reading correctly I think he is basing it on Salah being involved in over 70% of Liverpools goals this season which to anyone with a slight bit of common sense (I do realise I am talking to a Liverpool fan so this might be difficult for you), he is something of a talisman for you this season and without him you may struggle to get as many goals.

Yep. We haven't had to find out who would step up the most in his absence. To suggest we would be bang average without him is laughable.

I’m guessing we’d just be playing with 10 men when Salah is out too then

Yes, he’s played every game this season, so he can’t know.

The times we’ve have missed him, we’ve actually had a higher win percentage.

That’s why I asked if he’s basing it on anything… turns out he’s not.

That’s fine btw, people write stupid stuff online all the time.
