Lemina shoving Toti and then I think Derry as well
posted 1 week, 6 days ago
Lemina is well known for having a fiery temper. He was known for it before we signed him. He was a poor choice for club captain.
posted 1 week, 6 days ago
Can't say I blame Lemina much for the mess we are seeing. Is he the ideal captain? Not really. But who do we have. Andre would probably be a good choice but doesn't get games. Dawson?? Cunha probably best choice now.
posted 1 week, 6 days ago
Cunha is a bit sulky at times. He gets away with it because he's quality, but he isn't the calm head for people to rally around. I don't think we have one from our guaranteed starters, which is part of the problem.
Santi Bueno or Tommy Doyle are probably the only ones, but both are in and out of the side.

I like Gomes a lot but again not sure he's the cool calm collected type either

Thought we were generally better tonight than the last two games, but still not good enough. Bowen proving the difference between the teams. Ironic in such an important game that we were on the wrong end of 2 var decisions. The one might have been a foul outside the box but no foul at all was given. The second one on Bellegarde was a definite pen.

And looking at the replays, Santi Bueno was fouled in the lead up to the West Ham goal. And the corner they scored from wasn’t a corner. ‘‘Twas not meant to be

This is why I think we should have sacked GON after the Everton defeat. We should have been looking at new head coaches after the Bournemouth defeat, ready for if we needed to pull the trigger.
It was always highly likely we would lose tonight with GON in charge. He can't put a team together and we are becoming more mentally fragile by the game. How often have we conceded shortly after scoring to put ourselves back in the game this season?
We go into the games against Ipswich and Leicester now, with a manager who is obviously not good enough. If we sack him now, we probably don't give a new guy enough time to prepare for Ipswich. If we don't win at least one of those games we are probably already down.
If you look at the players who have started most games; Sa, Semedo, Toti, RAN, Gomes, Lemina and Cunha are all either hot headed or prone to a lapse in concentration. They are all great if they can be focused, but they are all lacking direction, organisation and leadership. We get moments of individual brilliance, but then lack the mental strength to capitalise on that and generally give it away. None of it is through lack of effort though.
We really need someone to come in and provide some stability and direction for this group. We are in a bad way though and it could already be too late.

Would like to think we have been doing work behind the scenes this week and an interview or two should be happening the next day or two or possible already on the quiet.
But of course it is hard to have any confidence in Shi and Hobbs anyway. I expect Cooper is high on the list.

He also said it about Toti didn't he? The former rugby player.

It's a shame we didn't have the big physical Craig Dawson to score a few more own goals.
I think GON only likes the chaos of the physical players. He wants defenders who make last ditch tackles, throw themselves in front of shots etc. Midfielders who sprint around the pitch making tackles and run with the ball.
It's why we are so all over the place and he doesn't see it, just keeps doubling down.

This team isn't built for the physicality of the prem. Nice one dude it's almost as if you never played top-flight footy

May as well leave O'Neil in charge as bring in Cooper. But in truth he might be the best of the candidates that actually want the job. Knows the Championship well.

I hope we move on from GON this week. But I hope it’s a more positive appointment than just who is available. Always said the only good reason to sack a manager is to bring in someone better. Potter or Carrick I’m sure would be a positive change, the likes of Cooper wouldn’t be.
For the club to move forward what we really need is new owners but for now just hope for a positive managerial change

I do believe that Fosun are to blame as much as anyone.
I think it's fair to say that they are only in it for the money and would be fame.
Every time we get a player of value, they look to cash in.

GON likely to be in charge for the Ipswich game.
posted 1 week, 5 days ago
If the reason for the inaction over GON is that we are in discussions to bring in a quality replacement then I can buy that in the short term. But we are seriously playing with fire in terms of our Premier League status.
The thought of arriving at Xmas with only 9 points is pretty alarming. 3 wins in 25 league games since March is the current count.

Just got power back on after 3 1/2 days in the dark, so all I got of the game was text on the BBC.
Obviously I didn't see it and haven't yet watched any highlights, but it sounds as if we were a bit unlucky. Not sure I'd make any rash decisions based on that game alone.
Clearly, we have not been anywhere near good enough all season, but at this stage, with 3 weeks and 4 games to go before the window opens, I reckon we may as well see what happens in January. Really don't want to jump from the frying pan into the fire, I remember doing that before.
I'll be at the Ipswich game, still hoping!

Not sure anything rash is involved here. 3 wins in 25 says it all and a record breaking defensive record to boot.

As for last night. We weren't terrible overall but didn't really ever look like winning or doing much of note. VAR is what it is at this stage. West Ham are devoid of any confidence and we did nothing to shake them up and get them rattled whatsoever
posted 1 week, 5 days ago
Also, I said last season multiple times our defence was pretty terrible and incapable of defending the box so it isn't news, but it is surprising it has gotten even worse. If you pop the ball into our box ten times you are just about guaranteed a goal.
