There is such a silver lining over spurs loss to Arsenal. It’s kept that useless manager in the job for another few months, I love it.
So many Arsenal fans in shock about the weekends performance whereas they weren’t good against spurs we were just terrible
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Every cloud.
The French are eve nmore staunchly behind the idea that being born there makes you French
Kind of like with America too, the natural born citizen thing

Kante was born in Paris, i dont see why we can jokingly claim he is African yet if you made any claim against Sterling being English when he lived in jamaica til he was 5 thats gonna be problematic
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was more to get a reaction from yourself, I know it’s not that bad - it’s far less ridiculous than the Southampton guy playing for Scotland
I think the whole 'the French team is African' thing annoyed a lot of the French who take the citizenship stuff very seriously
There were a couple which were very contentious, maybe it was Umtiti from memory who had only lived in France from 7 onwards and was eligible?
Trevor Noah did a good bit on that and how the french were hypocrites
He had some scottish connection i thought but very little

He has an interesting story but ive never found him funny
I think he’s pretty funny, his opening bit on Live at the Apollo is great
Yeah Che Adam’s, think he has a Scottish grandparent or ate some tablet once or something
I also disagreed with him tbh, im a big supporter of the idea that you can choose your nationality and you have no allegiance to ancestry
The Irish are weirdly butthurt about Rice and Grealish when both of them grew up here and their heritage links are through grandparents
Theres a lot of idiots on twitter who give abuse to footballers who didnt pick their country when they had the choice to

His point though was that the immigrants are only deemed french if they are good enough

If he is casting Le Pen and her supporters as the people he's arguing with then probably, but he was responding to the French American ambassador i thought
He was, I can’t really remember exactly what but his original comment was praising the African-ness of the french team and the ambassador I think took offence. However his point was that guy who climbed that building and saved that child gained french citizenship after the heroic deed and was saying that they can be both and their original heritage can be praised too
I cant see an issue with rewarding citizenship tbh, that sounds like an attack on that practice
So someone going viral for saving a kids life is the threshold of being deemed a French Citizen?
It’s obviously forced hyperbole but some of the comments regarding Salah’s goal are so over the top
