I think the pass to bentancur is fine, he turns and has a ball on to deki but dawdles. it's not like he has a man right on his back, we want to play through pressure like that.

It's a shame we don't know whether 5th is a CL spot or not?

If it was a good argument could be made that Villa winning is best for us as it's a 3 point weekend gain on 6th place Utd.

However we are where we are and as things stand a West Ham win and a Villa draw are probably the most decent outcomes for us.

Spurs talk?

Bentancur getting flack for the Brighton penalty but imo it’s all on VDV.

His pass into bents wasn’t on and left bents with 3 Brighton players around him and no space.

I agree with Chris actually, and also disagreed with your criticism of Vicario rolling out to Bentancur yesterday for him to fack up as well (for the Mitoma chance).

The first one is just how we play football and we expect the DM to receive the ball in these tight spots to be the release valve and start an overload counter attack.
For the Mitoma chance too, thats an automation of ours I've seen a few times. Ball goes to Bentancur who is sprinting back under pressure and then releases it to Romero who instantly plays it to Porro who then has options for a quick break.

Bentancur has just had a bad month, and I think we will see a lot more from Bissouma when he comes back in.

Some of my random musings from yesterdays game:

1. Lamptey is a shocking defender, Werner didnt do much and beat him comfortably multiple times

2. Mitoma has such a nice first touch

3. I think a few people missed it, but we definitely made a tactical tweak yesterday at HT where the widemen (often kulu) would drop deeper and we would have the 8 running outside the CB in lots of space. Happened 4/5 times that half.

4. I didnt think Richy was as bad as people made out

I don’t think that Vicario comment was me tbh as I agree that was on and bents should played that around the corner to the right quicker.

I get that it’s how we play etc but I just don’t think it’s on especially against a team that press is probably better that ours. It need to give bents half a second to look up and make the pass impossible 9/10 imo.

Similarly Bissouma facked up that same scenario in the 2-2 vs City at the Etihad. Its just the risky football we play.

Agreed. BJ is better coming off the bench. Most times when the ball is played to his feet he gets dispossessed.

Kulu starts then BJ comes on against tired defenders. Perfect.
