told the old dear last night that i'd explained to the doctor that i've regularly had su-----l thoughts due to very serious depression over a number of years, and that after talking with the dr, the dr said that I have been subjected to "emotional abuse" by my parents.

neither of them have mentioned it at all today, but i've been severely berated by my mum for breaking the vacuum, which will apparently cost £100 to repair, and not only was it in perfect working order before I had it, but last time the technician serviced it he said he was amazed at the quality it was in.

i asked to borrow the other hoover and have been told I can use the dustpan and brush.

Quick and dirty way is tourist tickets, that's what I did last time I was over there. Think it was £60-£70 but you get free grub, free beers at HT etc

just been looking through old comments and stuff i've written about my relationship with my dad to make some brief notes about it.


i've gone back only 18 months worth of things I've written, and it totals 56 pages 32,000 words

decided to try to turn it into bullet points.

• When I was offered a FREE place on the Royal Shakespeare Company's summer tour of the US when I was 17: "The RSC's full of poofters isn't it ?"
• When he decided to let me know what a failure I was after the England rugby team lost, “What a load of RUBBISH. You support them, cheer them on, want them to succeed, and then after all the hype they turn out to be a COMPLETE TOTAL DEAD LOSS
• When I was applying for a job in Australia, "The Australians hate the English, and I should think they would especially hate you."
• When I assume he was referencing the life support machine I had as a baby during a recent mysterious unprompted outburst “switch it off. Just switch it all off”
• After we’d had an argument some time after my grandma died, “It was your fault your grandma had a heart attack”*
• A day or so after I'd showed him the report I'd written on how I was set up by colleagues and bullied out of my job (while we were watching dragons den and a guy had gone on confidently but with his hands in his pockets): "They can't stand that ATTITUDE can they ? That's the problem"
• After a family member had started yelling at me for writing an urgent email on a computer that she sometimes used for work, and I'd shouted back as I walked off: “That’s it, you’re out of my will, out of my inheritance, that’s it, finished”
• After my mum had said something nice about me, (singing at the top of his voice) “WILL YOU STILL BELIEVE IT WHEN HE'S DEAD. WILL YOU STILL BELIEVE IT WHEN HE'S DEAD. WILL YOU STILL BELIEVE IT. WILL YOU STILL BELIEVE IT WHEN HE’S DEAD"
• After I'd asked for some privacy after he'd stood next to me adjusting the boiler as I was sat on the toilet: (yelling at the top of his voice as he prodded me in the chest with his finger) “YOU'RE INSANE, YOU'RE INSANE, IT'S MY F***ING HOUSE, YOU’RE F***ING INSANE"
