Rashford

Definitely not the words of someone who expects to stay and fight for a spot in the team. Maybe Amorim and the club have spoken to him about his future at the club.

I hope he knows that no club is going to match his current wage (or anything close to it). I wonder if the club are willing to pay him off some amount to move?

He just needs to find some form. Look at onana, single handedly got us eliminated from Europe last season and made awful fack ups, yet has improved a bit with faith. Marcus can still come good.

Sad than it’s come to this but I think a move is best for all.

I don’t think he fits Amorim’s system and hasn’t been good enough for a while in reality.

He’ll have to take a hefty wage cut and it will likely be a far smaller club though.

No words just emotions. I love Rashford.

Rashford has 138 goals in 426 appearances, for someone that’s been a mainstay in the team for the last 9 years that’s a pretty poor return.

Marcus Rashford:

“It’s disheartening to be left out of a Derby but it’s happened, we won the game so let's move on. It’s disappointing but I’m also someone as I’ve got older I can deal with setbacks. What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it. Or do my best the next time I’m available.”

Marcus Rashford: “When I leave, it's going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.”

This guy could potentially be leaving in January. If he does I wonder who we can get in to replace him.

Stick around Marcus, you’ll probably still outlast Amorim

The ship has sailed for me. Whatever the reasons; be it his back injury, personal losses, off-field distractions, needing a fresh challenge, constant chopping and changing of managers, his numbers really aren’t that great and when combined with his lack of effort, drive and enthusiasm then it’s clear that it’s time to move on. He’s a good premier league forward, but we need better than that.

Look at our periods of dominance - would rashford get into those teams?

Our 92-97 era, 99-03 era, 06-09 era. Nope.

Would any of our current players? Not a chance

You do hit a point though on enthusiasm, does seem he’s lost motivation

1982, I don't think he is the type of person to hold the club to ransom, so to speak, to pay him off if he leaves.

I think it is a bit of a gambol for a buying club to hope he gets his form back, though. He just has not looked as if he cares for ages now, going back to ETH's second season.

Something is going on in his head and it isn't good.

Is it though? He's played in a struggling team and more than half those games have been from the left and sometimes the right.

That's very close to a goal every 3 games on average. How does that compare to the other forwards we currently have or have recently sold?

It's not a world class record by any means but it's certainly not a poor one.

I don’t necessarily agree with that. Almost 1 in 3 for someone that has spent large parts playing out wide is quite good.

My issue is with him is that if he isn’t scoring he’s not really offering much else.

“What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it. Or do my best the next time I’m available.”

It’s all well and good saying this stuff but ultimately all that matters is how he performs on the pitch which hasn’t been good enough. Didn’t he ‘write’ an open letter a few months ago with some excuse that didn’t really come across that well and then proceeded to be sh-t on the pitch.

posted 8 hours, 57 minutes ago

It’s not the worst record but he hasn’t been good enough, simple as that. Also, playing wide isn’t an excuse not to score, loads of forwards play in that wide position and score tonnes, Messi, Henry and Salah off the top of my head.

This interview is exactly and example of the problem with Rashford. He gets dropped and the very next day he comes out with this. While he is obviously being respectful in what he says about the club, it’s all about him driving the narrative and getting his word out there. It’s all about the brand and the optics instead of the football. If he’d just put his head down, keep his mouth shut, and at least put in a shift on the pitch, he wouldn’t be in this position. Unfortunately, as said above, the ship has sailed and he needs to go.

Anyone think Ruben is gonna play him much now he’s come out with this interview?

It's actually a decent to good record for a player or his type / position.

The issue is he's being paid Mo Salah money and he's
not as good as he is or consistent as he is so the lazy narrative is he must be crap. He clearly isn't crap averaging a goal every 3 games at the very top of the game.

Way too many people with agendas who just don't call it fairly with him. He's the poster boy for the blame sadly.

posted 8 hours, 54 minutes ago

I’m sure if Amorim wants to play him he will. Just doesn’t look like he fits into the new system or is doing what is asked of him (hence why he was dropped on the weekend).

You just mentioned 3 of the greatest players of all time to compare Rashford to. Off the top of your head.

Yes but those 3 are the elite.

I bet Rashford’s goal numbers are fairly similar to the likes of Sadio Mane & Eden Hazard. The difference is those 2’s all round game was on a different level to Rashford.

Wonder who will take him. Can see a few PL clubs lining up

posted 8 hours, 49 minutes ago

I actually agree about the system though. I said right at the start that both he and Garnacho will struggle with that new role from Amorim. I don't think either of them are really number 10's. They can do a job there but it's certainly not their game to do that role is it?

I hope he moves on now myself because quite frankly the hate he gets is simply ridiculous and not helping him or the club one bit. Criticism of his performances is fine but he gets abused daily on social media and quite frankly the comments are simply disgusting.

My point is you can still be a high scoring forward playing out wide rather than centrally. In recent years the high scoring centre forward hasn’t been as common as in the past. Haaland is more of an old fashioned forward in the modern game.
