Players like Hazard, Mane, Leroy Sane, Zaha, Saka etc would probably be a fair comparison.
As has been pointed out comparing him to Messi (arguably greatest of all time) and Henry and Salah (two of the best the PL has ever seen) is very unfair on him.
Sadly the huge contract dictates what his output should be in some people's minds which isn't overly fair.

By my point is, in the modern game you don’t have to rely on the centre forward to be your main source of goals. Modern systems allow for wide forward (which are different to wingers) to provide more.

I agree but that's the same for a lot of other teams.
Jack Grealish cost £100m and hasn't scored a single goal in a year now and hasn't scored anywhere near as many as Rashford has.
I actually understand people's frustration with Rashford but some of the other nonsense that leaves their brains and mouths is just hilarious.
He's got a decent record and when he comes back as an opposition player he will get a fantastic reception from us reds.

Rashford has been a regular for almost 10 years at Manchester United. It's not been good enough. Full stop.
Everyone knows it deep down. Nice guy sure, but not good enough among the many others.
posted 9 hours, 7 minutes ago
Rashford's overall goal record is good. The problem is the current trend which is pretty bad and you also have to acknowledge that he offers little else.
He doesn't display much football intelligence in how he uses the ball and really you can't carry players like that at this level unless they are scoring very heavily, which he isn't.
The lack of willingness to run for the team is also alarming.
I'd be comfortable letting him go.

Not good enough is massively subjective. I could argue that most of this squad aren't good enough if we are using the greatest players of all time to compare them.
Take De Ligt for example. He's been perfectly steady and decent so far. Not amazing but not terrible. How does he compare to Rio, Stam and Vidic? He's not as good as them three so he must be crap. Let's sell him right? 😉
Starting to see the bigger picture a bit? Rashford isn't as good as Giggs Beckham Ronaldo etc. But he's not been crap either. Far from it actually.

Yes. Most of our current squad is also not good enough to help us win the PL or even challenge for it. Agree.
This article is about Rashford though, and not the whole squad, hence me saying I don't think Rashford has been good enough on this thread.
If there's going to be an article about Antony, Maguire, Lindelof, Bruno, Casemiro leaving or whatever then I'll give my opinion on those too on those threads.
I hope you're starting to see the picture a bit.

it's a wate of time trying to reasonably defend Rashford's record as a United player in a period that has been United worst for decades, as it is for all players that wore the Red Shirt in the same period. Yet the hatred doesnt seem to transcend on others who have been equally brilliant and inspiring in moments and then been as bad and frustrating in periods. Some people just dont like the guy for a number of reasons. That's fair enough I suppose.

He just needs to find some form. Look at onana, single handedly got us eliminated from Europe last season and made awful fack ups, yet has improved a bit with faith. Marcus can still come good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's never scored more than 20 premier league goals in a single season. No, he won't 'come good at 27'.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He plays mainly from the left hand side. Not many players do score 20 a season from that position.
He averages 1 in 3 games at United across his career too. A more than respectable record.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you're ok with United's form the last 10 years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not but your argument above was ridiculous. Eden Hazard never got more than 16 PL goals once for Chelsea. You said they should be getting 20 which is utter nonsense. Players in that position rarely get that many goals consistently.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not ridiculous. Half of what I said is fact. He has never scored more than 20 PL goals in a single season. That is fact.
He is 27 I believe. Also a fact.
I am perfectly reasonable in me believing he will not be a player to help Manchester United become a PL winning challenger. He just won't. He's stats say so, and more importantly, his attitude says so.

Saka, Mahrez, Son, Hazard, Mane, Salah, Bowen, Foden, Palmer, Sane, Olise, Sterling, Diaz, I’m sure there are more.
Apart from 19/20 and 22/23 he hasn’t been particularly good and I would argue most of those above offer more.

He was crap too then was he?
Just face facts....you just don't like him as a player (which is fine btw as you can like and not like who you want) but don't pretend his stats haven't been decent. They have been.

You're using a single football player to argue for Marcus Rashford. It doesn't matter what Messi, Hazard, Salah, Ramos, Zidane etc have done. None have played for us. Pointless.
Rashford has been a regular for almost 10 years at Manchester United. It's not been good enough. Full stop.
Everyone knows it deep down. Nice guy sure, but not good enough among the many others.
