Lads, it's Spurs.
Another team on another night and this is why United get smashed United 7-0 sometimes. They kept pushing players forward and leaving acres of space at the back at 3-0 down and Spurs and Ange did nothing to punish that, allowing United to get back in it.
United still conceded 4 goals. I added a couple United defenders to my fantasy team thinking Amorim would make them a bit more solid.

Mamba Spurs had 3 shots 2nd half to Man Utd 14. They barely could get out all half. If you take the 3rd illegal goal out they had 2 shots all half.
You can see how clear the foul was as the goalkeeper was going to get the ball and then was hit into the net by the Spurs player.

Uniteds attack was poo as well, we basically had to score 2 goals for them and their 3rd was due to one of our biggest issues - defending against carthorses in the air.

The problem you had that evening was all your chances kept falling to Haaland who seemed to be on a hit row Z bonus. Spurs aren’t difficult to score against - last night for instance we had our 3rd choice CB with an 18 year old CM alongside him and our second choice keeper, we also had our second choice left back playing - yet we had to bang a couple in for United.
Against City it was our 3rd and 4th choice CB playing and our keeper broke his ankle after 20 mins and still completed the game with a clean sheet.

My point is, this keep the faith article is nonsense - what are you keeping faith in based on last night? Keep faith the opposition will gift us goals, keep faith that we can’t faaacking defend? Keep faith that at 3-0 down all our manager could do was the AVB poo squat?
posted 4 days, 19 hours ago
I'm definitely keeping faith, before this match and after, regardless of this thread. There's clear progress in our patterns of play and the way we're forming our attacks and creating chances.
Unfortunately we have players who are learning this on the job, rather than being brought in with the skillset to already play this way. Some are adapting and rising to the new ethos, some are failing.
It'll take time but I'm happy with the direction Amorim is taking us. I'd rather have him than Ange by a country mile tbh.

I can agree with that, I don’t want Ange at all, we can’t defend, we crumble under pressure and we only have one way of playing.
Most of all, we’re faaacking 10th and that was our 2nd win in our last 7 games. This is why I’m finding the United optimism odd - Amorim has done a lot worse than I thought he would, no new manager bounce at all so far

I think it depends on whether you watch us week in week out. Most sensible United fans see the results as secondary to the performance and a clear style of play which we can largely subscribe to and the players buy into. We've not had that with any manager since Fergie. This genuinely looks promising.
And new manager bounces are overrated

As I said on another thread, 3 of United's last 5 goals have been through goalkeeping errors and another was a penalty.

Hmmm, I watch quite a bit of United - you’re the only other top 6 club I don’t dislike.
I’ve not seen anything from Amorim so far other than a higher press. Ugarte has upped his game and Bruno is playing better, but defensively you’re still a shambles. I will save judgement on the attack as I agree with Hafi that you have amongst the worst finishers in the league

Our new manager has taken over a team in 14th trying to implement a new formation with zero confidence, a massive lack of quality and some people (mainly opposing fans) are already questioning him? Mental.
We won't know about Ruben for another 12-18 months yet. if he gets 4-5 new players for his system over the next two windows then we will see how he is shaping up.
I'd much rather have Amorim than ETH that's for sure and certainly over Ange too. He just needs some time. Next season I'd be hoping for a much better season for us with us much closer or in the top 4. We aren't a million miles off it now which just goes to show how inconsistent most teams have been.

Our attack is shiiiite, certainly.
Amorim has already explained that with two games every week since he joined and giving players two days off training after games, they haven’t had time to work on attacking patterns yet, so that’s hardly a surprise.
It isn’t a matter of ‘keeping faith’ right now. The man is barely through the door. This season is about getting players used to the system (most of them have never played in sides using a 3-4-2-1 setup), seeing which are going to suit it and in which roles, and starting to sort our injury and conditioning issues out. That’s it.

I think it’s more that certain sides are happy to let us have the ball and instead deny us space. So Chelsea aside, when we are beat, we don’t lose by many - Palace, Ipswich, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Newcastle - all let us have the ball but denied us space to run into resulting in single goal losses.
It’s why we’re top scorers, 3rd best defence but only 10th in the league. It’s a lack of a plan B and at times game management

Just over a month. First game was 24th nov but he had a week or so before with some of the players.
But yeah totally agree. It's way too early to even make any judgements yet. He will get 18 months and a summer transfer window before I even start to form an opinion one way or the other.
I have liked a lot of what i have seen so far as the shape we're playing is actually obvious. It's just the quality of players letting us down.

I don't think we were unlucky. He decided to rest his starting keeper and most in form player in Amad among 1 or 2 others. I think his starting team showed that this competition isn't his main priority and I agreed with him and still do.
Our focus this season shouldn't be the domestic cups. It needs to be implementing the new system, improving our league form and trying to do well in Europa. We aren't good enough to compete in all 4 competitions. Maybe in 1/2 years time we will be but we are miles away.
Drawing Liverpool as well would have been horrendous. The last thing we need is another 2 games against our biggest rivals given how many tough games we've had all close together.
Nobody likes to lose but i think it will be blessing in disguise for us going forwards. Spurs need a cup this season way more than we do. Domestic cups didn't save ETH.

We just like playing the Manchester sides this season, our defence keeps getting slandered on here but the aggregate score over those 3 games is 11-3 - what the faaack are you lot doing defensively.
Uniteds attack was poo as well, we basically had to score 2 goals for them and their 3rd was due to one of our biggest issues - defending against carthorses in the air.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your attack was hardly any better to be fair. You were given 3 goals, you could argue 4 because Martinez made Solanke look like a prime Henry
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes but 11 over 3 games, plus we’re the top scorers in the league. We score for faaacking fun - 9 in our last 2 or 13 in our last 4.
We have no issue with attack.
We can’t defend to save our lives yet still had to score a couple for United just to get them off the mark
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not new that utd have wasted a load of money on crap players. What is your point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My point is, this keep the faith article is nonsense - what are you keeping faith in based on last night? Keep faith the opposition will gift us goals, keep faith that we can’t faaacking defend? Keep faith that at 3-0 down all our manager could do was the AVB poo squat?

New manager bounce or luck?
As I said on another thread, 3 of United's last 5 goals have been through goalkeeping errors and another was a penalty.

We have the third best defence in the league. I'd say we can defend but we are very prone to individual errors

Funny thing was Spurs literally had 3 attacks all 2nd half and scored 3 goals. We had like 80 attacks and scored 3. Never seen a game so one sided.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't agree more! In the City game, after countless wasted chances by City, they scored 2 from their first two attempts at goal. And 2 more against the run of play. The statistics were baffling.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s almost like stats don’t matter.
Maybe, your both shiete???
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our attack is shiiiite, certainly.

Look guys I agree, Amorim hasn’t had the time to show anything yet and needs more time - I just don’t get this angle that some are punting that it was much improved last night and you were unlucky
Nothing much has improved so far and you certainly weren’t unlucky last night - we repaid your keeper errors with our own
