I don't really know what the best XI is and how/where they'd play but, based on what we've seen I think the following would be in
Onana

De Ligt
Bruno
Amad
Hojlund
You could also state Dalot too but I think that's because he's always available and can play pretty much every game.
For me the lack of numbers above is the problem

Not ideal, but that's the nearest thing to an epl starting xi the club has.
The rest of the 'defenders' (lol) are the reasons why the team is so easy to score against, and the over-hyped, weak, 'youngsters' and 'oldsters' are the reason why the team doesn't create enough GENUINE (thats "genuine" for the hard of thinking) goal scoring opportunities.
Play the right xi, then the rest of the season will be a relative doddle.
That being stated I'm fully expecting the next three games to be convincing victories.

I don't think it's about who the best 11 is. If it's not Onana having a brainfart, it's Bayinder. If it's not Hojlund being brushed aside from a set piece it's Zirkzee.
The players all need to step up. At the same time we need some serious work being done by the coaching team on our defending playing in a 3-4-3.

Ruben has been given a thankless task this season because of the sheer ineptitude of INEOS.
Anyone who argued with me over ETH.....please hang your heads in shame and never come at me again. This season could have been very different for us had the right decision been made in the summer.
I feel sorry for Amorim. What the hell is he meant to do with this lot? It's the worst United squad in nearly 4 decades. The only team we are good enough to beat is City because they are as bad as us. 😂

Yes but if nobody who can actually play football is available until you get the ball to the last third of the pitch you're going to struggle to score goals, the fact that you still let three in is even more worrying. This is not a PL system for a team who wants to challenge which is why none of the best teams use it.

We have no problem getting the ball to the final third. We lack the compusure to play the right final ball and the forwards to finish the chances we do create. That's not the system's failure at all.

This set of players are uncoachable, useless at everything. But again the club has done a 180 with a management appointment in choosing a manager that plays a completely different style to the last manager. Did the same with Moyes to LVG and then LVG to Jose. And these managers given free reign to sign whoever they want. So the next manager is given players not suited to his style at all.
No doubt Ruben is a quality coach but this squad is not built for the 343 formation. I do hope he’s given time to flush out the tûurd ETH and Ole left but it’s going to take time with a lot of patience.

Agree with the general point and sentiment, but the fact he has got them playing the 3-4-3 and building those patterns of play as highlighted by pundits as much as anyone only a couple of weeks ago shows they are coachable.
Are we honestly saying our players aren't capable of defending set pieces that 90% of other clubs seem to manage better than us? Of course they are.

To a certain extent, but we’re always out worked by other teams like 90 % of the time, not sure if that’s a fitness issue or these set of players are just too lazy to put in a shift, or lack footballing IQ to understand what the manager wants and to make the right decisions.

That last bit likely has a lot of truth to it because ETH used to say this quite often in his post match after. Things players were doing which went against what they were supposed to.
The problem I have is that this isn't some group of players that have been there for a while. Many came in over the summer and others the two summers before. So the idea they all came in being lazy, tactically inept, lacking fitness can't be true. That for me leads to a lack of sufficient direction and work done on the training ground.

We don't have the players to play this formation. That's a massive problem really.
As I said.....he should have been hired in the summer and the £200m should have been spent on players who can play the 343. A few wing backs and a decent striker are badly needed before we will see any improvement.
If we have to finish bottom half of the table then so be it. This has been coming for years and years. Eventually bad mistakes after bad mistakes become a huge problem.

Not sure why I'm reading this on various platforms.
I thought Amorim was clear. We can do certain stuff now and suffer but be better this time next season or not try certain stuff and be here again next season.
Just give the guy the season. I don't care if he suddenly brings in under 18 squad to play a game. As long as start of next season we have the players and the team to actually be playing good football and taking our chances.
I don't think he will change say the backline in matches once he has all the players fit and able to play 90 minutes without breaking down. It's not like he hasn't spoken or this multiple times.
Yes we lost. Probably loose again next game. But let's listen to what the boss is saying and what he is trying to achieve rather than getting on his case.
I do think he's making an incredibly hard job even harder for himself though by making 5/6 changes every game. No good can ever come from that amount of rotation.
We will probably be out of the FA cup in 2 weeks time too so the need to constantly rotate the team will soon be at an end thankfully. He needs to settle on something and stick with it now until the summer.

Well when one of those defensive midfielders went off we conceded another 2 lol
The problem isn't the numbers, it's the players and the coaching.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This set of players are uncoachable, useless at everything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with the general point and sentiment, but the fact he has got them playing the 3-4-3 and building those patterns of play as highlighted by pundits as much as anyone only a couple of weeks ago shows they are coachable.
Are we honestly saying our players aren't capable of defending set pieces that 90% of other clubs seem to manage better than us? Of course they are.

I don't understand why you're playing five defenders and two defensive midfielders against Bournemouth.

I know we'd all like us to win every game but if we are taking silver linings is that we've not had "papering over the cracks" wins which may have given a false impression. If the club fully backs Amorim I do trust his management will get us back up there.

Tbh I find this formation boring or is it our players?
