Yes, he needs to show he has what it takes too. The PR around him hasn't been great. Musk would be on a completely different level though and I'd think the vast majority of Liverpool fans would be against this. I know I would be if it were United.

Absolutely zero chance.

Musk taking over their club would create a serious dilemma for any fan concerned with the ethics around football. Having seen the overwhelming response of Geordies to the Saudicastle acquisition and the attitudes of many United fans to the prospect of becoming a PR instrument for Qatar, I guess most supporters would be fine with it.
