Bubbles seems to be struggling with it, too.

SB used to be a lot bigger than Old Trafford and it was where the FA Cup Final was played whilst the Old Wembley was being built.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Even then its not had as many as United

Highest home attendance: 83,260 United
highest official attendance is 82,905 Chelsea

Close but not close enough

mmmm.

It's true, yes United's highest attendance is 83260...
.... but that was at Maine Road.

But you agree your statement,'Chelsea have pulled in numbers at SB that United could only dream of.' is wrong?

WRONG

Chelsea had an estimated 100,000 + against Dynamo Moscow in 1945 where the turnstiles broke at 95,000

Also Stamford Bridge had an official capacity of around 100,000, making it the second largest ground in England after Crystal Palace, the FA Cup final venue. Stamford Bridge itself hosted the final for the first three years after the First World War from 1920 to 1922, after which it was replaced by Wembley.

"Wild rover = Epic fail...
ha ha, he called UTD a tiny team before Sir Alex...
what a donkey....
Now Blackburn on the other hand before Jack walker and SAS arrived, and well after they left, what are they now?"

We were a massive club before Jack arrived, 70 years before but still valid. We were a small club when Jack arrived, became a small club with big funds, won a couple of trophies and remain a small club.

What is your point plastics?

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but I was researching past attendances and found we had a 151k attendance away to real Madrid in a European match during the 50's which shocked me really

I'm sure it said it was Man Utd, I'd find the link to the attendance but I'm on my phone and the 3G is effing up.

You'll have to do better than that mate!

You were away so its Madrid's attendance NOT yours. People didn't travel much in those days as aeroplane travel wasn't what it is today so you probably accounted for about 50 of that total.

I don't understand why people harp on about big club small club. Doesn't change how well the team is doing on the pitch. redevilmatth, you may not consider Chelsea a big club but it doesn't change the fact that Chelsea are consistently a title contender, consistenly in the latter stages of the Champions League and topped the group yesterday.

before roman arrived we
1 broke into top 3 making it the "big 4"
won the F.A cup twice along with the league cup, charity shield and cup winners cup, followed by a Super cup!
all of this in the years leading up to our takeover.

I don't see why people concern themselves with this sort of stuff, it's sad to say it makes some people associated with Manchester United look very shallow and reflects poorly on United as a whole. Chelsea are actually quite a big club, they have a history of winning some trophies, of epic encounters that are recalled from the past, of success and failure. If people are talking about them and have taked about them for the past 60 years then I'd suggest they are quite a big club.

United have everything going for them, trophies, past successes, current successes, wealth, fame, top players, World Stature, we are fortunate at United to have what we have, no need to belittle others, we should stand above that!
