I think if we can get that sort of money then it's good business. Pilks, although a great player has had a bad injury and who knows how he is going to play after that. Sometimes players can't shake off the memory and are never the same.
Also, in reality, Pilks has been inconsistent and his forte' is mainly cutting in and shooting. His midfield work on the right doesn't always provide the right strength at key times in key areas.
It may also mean that we are moving away from the 4-5-1 to 4-4-2 and with that we cannot afford to have 2 wide players leaving 2 midfielders against usually 3 or 4 opposing midfielders.
If we were in the championship I wouldn't sell, but we're not and he's maybe worth the sacrifice if we strengthen other key areas which enables us to get promotion this time.?
Great point about Cody M Grim ! It certainly would put us in the driving seat to sign him ! I like Cody a lot proper all round striker with lots of potential....
The Mirror story is a complete rip off of a story from The Express, word for word! If we were to sell him then it would be because he wants to leave, I think if he wanted to stay we wouldn't listen to any offers but that probably won't be the case. £1.75m plus a percentage of future transfer fees as well as something involving Cody (season long loan with agreed price maybe) would be more than acceptable for a good League One player.
Remember Brighton only got approximately £2m for Elliott Bennett who in my opinion was much more consistent than Pilks last season.
Also, has anyone seen we've apparently signed Oscar Gobern from Saints? Anyone know anything about the lad?
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11740_6996376,00.html
radio leeds this morning said we had signed him, but I thought nothing could be done until after June 30th...so maybe just verbal agreement at the moment ?
The Norwich bid has been widely reported, and if I were Pilks with a chance to play in the Premier League I'd jump at it ! It's not a case of disloyalty to Town, it's a case of securing his own future, which could quite easily have ended after the Rochdale game.
No one can blame a lad for moving up and if it happens I'll wish him all the best..
I agree Jacko, It could also benefit us as we will be able to go buy some players in the key areas we are missing.

The Mirror story is a complete rip off of a story from The Express, word for word!
They are part of the same group of papers, which expains a lot. Owned by Richard Desmond. Makes Ken Bates look like your favourite uncle. I;ve actually had to deal with this guy, who was a cutomer of my lest employer, and he is just about the most unpleasant person I've ever spoken to. All of which is alomost totally irrelevent to this thread, but when you despise someone you take every chance you get to spread the word, don't you?
anyone willing to pay that sort of money for someone who has just had such a nasty injury is daft in the head..
roberts may be a replacement for snodgrass who looks to be moving to the "mighty leicester"...
at least we wont get outmuscled for players by clubs in our own league.. how the ex mighty fall...
take the money..cody will be going elsewhere, have to think again..
Worth about 400k at the very best.....don't forget that you're a lower league club and you should just be grateful that anybody is showing an interest in any of your players.....at the very top of his game, he'd struggle to make our bench, but his alleged injury makes him more of a liability than anything.
I can understand you wanting to lower your wage bill after yet another failed season though....
the above just shows you cant educate pork...
if we get top dollar for pilks and roberts we could buy peterborough lock stock and barrell and knock down the shed that they play in and build a tesco..
they would get a better "crowd" even at 2 in the morning on a wednesday..
Why don't you try to buy him then. ????
3 reasons, 1, you are releagtion fodder, 2, small club with no ambition, 3 your conference standard ground. !
We only need 7 thou though....
BTW, we'll be buying Cody MacDonald, so start looking at players more suited to your level.....Charlie Lee is available, although he might not want to drop down with the dregs again.
I can smell something....Pooborough Ushited...
That's right, that tinpot club that owned you a few weeks back in the most important game in your history.....you're just a small town club with big ideas that you're unable to achieve.
Achievers not believers....next question?
Why arn't you on your own board with your posh pal friends, your not welcome on here.......... grimios delete this baffoon !!!!!!
still tin pot and run by spivs and a barrow boy, neither have the money to make up for the lack of support, or interest in peterborough united..
you cant seriously believe that any of the championship teams thought "great peterborough united are coming up"...
you are just another scunny, going up and down and apart from providing one or two players to other bigger clubs bring nothing by way of money or interest into the championship..
as i said before if the games against le=ds or cardiff/west ham are on sky, they will outnumber you at your home ground, its embarrassing, even more so than us losing to you with twice the support in the ground.. at least we made it profitable for the league to have a play off final..imagine the crowd if you had played mk dons, half a dozen stewards and one small burger stand would have covered the day and they would still have lost money on the day..
Not welcome?
Don't be a sore loser like those I saw on TV battering their own fans.....it's only a game.....which you lost badly.
It's funny, but many fans of championship clubs wanted the entertainers to triumph over the hoofball merchants....thankfully we delivered on our promise to beat you and beat you badly.
you wont be the entertainers next season, you will be the fall guys..
fans know this..
the chairmen of the other clubs know you will be a money loser..you bring no interest to the league, we are not a big club but we overshadow you in the interest we generate and the money we can bring to the league..
your spiv owner is bringing disrepute to the game as if it needs anymore.. and barry fry has lived on "nothing" for a long time..
your next relegation will be the catalyst for a club that generates nothing on its own.. the wage cap will kill you and other clubs who live on the banks money and "promises" from chairmen who's only assetts are a smart suit, an expensive car and a load of flannel..
I love it when so-called fans of other clubs make unfounded accusations on internet forums about Darragh....so do the local charities that prosper when his legal team catches up with the cowards....
