i'm convinced rotation is the way, especially if we're to take the cups seriously.. but you're right - players like Gio & Pienaar aren't cutting the mustard

-------

well thats just it.

who are we going to bring in?

niko and corluka look so unfit its untrue.

if anything happened to walker i would put kaboul straight into right back over corluka.

peinaar well i dunno whats happened to him. dont sell him yet though. he was quality for us in the san siro so he clearly has it in him.

i am still concerned about centre mid. one more cm injury and we are in big big trouble. i dont rate livermore, and we have no replacement for modric.

Chronic, Townsend has been decent, he has pace which makes him an exciting player, but where was he at Kane's age? On loan in League 1 with Yeovil I think.

Haven't seen enough of Carroll, needs to hit the gym though.

Gaz

Fair enough fella, as long as we get a decent amount for him it'd be the best thing for all concerned. He must be frustrated too.

yeah but with a striker its different.. you can kind of tell when a player has it in them... there was no one aspect of kane's game that impressed me much when he played this season. he even missed a pen...

usually you can see a young striker has great movement, or great strength or a great finish, but has to develop other areas.. kane has none of those.

Livermore = Jenas

I think he'll be a steady performer if unspectacular. Probably need a few of those at the club tbh. Being home-grown gives him an advantage too.

Agreed on Kane - it's the killer instinct you can never teach a player.. shame but so few make it as this level it's not surprising.

I've still got faith in Jake though - for me he's shown himself to be solid if unspectacular, and willing to do a job out of position if asked. I can see Parker having a big influence on him.. hope so anyway

Coulibaly to smash the Premiership apart next season!

Maybe because of him we're holding out on buying a top class striker!

Khumalo has the potential to be a good defender, especially as a 5th choice.

Jansson needs to go out on loan to a club that can play him, big potential but being wasted.

Gio is not getting a chance in the Premiership, Harry gives him about 5 minutes when he does come on as a sub.

I actually do like Bentley, the transfer price has destroyed him. If he cost us about 7 million people would think he'd be ok on the bench but it's the fact he cost us 17 million is the problem.

WAY to early for him.

Last night's 5-3 friendly win over MK Dons (urgh) saw a resplendent performance from Kranjcar, a promising one from Pavlyuchenko and an earth-shakingly exciting one from the 17 year old Kane. With the scores locked at 2-2 following a fightback from the home side, Kane entered the fray, replacing Jermain Defoe, and immediately had an impact. He restored Tottenham's lead with an effort from inside the box and, after a flurry of goals, he had the final say on the match with a 30 yard run and finish to settle the game at 5-3.

15 minutes, 3 chances and 2 goals. Not a bad way to get yourself on the radar of people whose opinions count for a lot - Technical Co-Ordinator Tim Sherwood and, subsequently, Harry Redknapp. Quoth Sherwood: "Harry showed real quality when he came on. His first goal was a real goalscorer's goal, a poacher's goal, just nicking in front of the defender and sliding the ball home. The second was a good finish as well. He had three chances and scored twice in 15 minutes, a good ratio. He's a good player and we all think he's got a future at the club."

Bãle's,

I agree on Livermore. Of course he's not a great player yet but he's training with the likes of Sandro & Parker every day so i have hopes for him.

Just think back to when Parker was his age, he was better known for THAT McDonalds advert than he was for playing in the holding role.

I said on another thread, Livermore's long direct passing (on the ground) was brilliant against West Brom, he really opened up our attacking play.

Kane on the other hand doesn't seem to have that knack of scoring goals since he's taken the step up to the senior team. Players like Defoe, Owen etc were scoring goals by 18 & i think Defoe even had a record of scoring on every one of his debuts (loan spells inc) up until we bought him back from Pompey.

I hope i'm wrong but i cant see him cutting it.

Was an important member of the team when we finish 4th, same could be said for Bassong though

Imagine Parker doing them skills now he did in that advert, I get the image of an old man slipping on ice trying to keep the ball in the air

Whilst some strikers do burst onto the scene at 18, Kane has a pretty good all-round game for someone of his age. He's pretty fast, can head a ball, can take a good free kick etc. I wouldn't write him off just yet, if he can improve at a steady rate he could make it.

We had a net spend of -£19m in the summer.

So added to the sales you listed (some values a bit optimistic) we have another £20m burning a hole in Arry's pocket!

I only got £5million for Pav on Fifa

I got 26 million for him on FM 2012, but then again he scored 34 Premiership goals

=====================

I must admit, i didnt see much to get excited about when he played in the EL.

And his pace wouldnt scare many defenders in the Prem, if any.

We'll agree to disagree then. I won't write an 18 year old Tottenham player though and say he'll never make it.

Why not?

"Who do you think's buying all those players, Liverpool?!"

Bentley and Jenas are English.
