we dont need him, we are deadly

The only thing we can hope for if Samba does leave (which seems likely) is that a few other teams (QPR, PSG) come in for him and there's a bit of a bidding war.

Seems the only way we'll get what he's worth....7.5m pah!

if it's true that Barclay's have stopped Venky's from securing the extra debt payments with next years income, we could sell him as cheap as that. If we do, it would be a travesty.

come on rovers fans, do you actually think Samba is worth anymore than that? 8/9 mil at the most but 7.5mil is a decent offer.

posted on 12/1/12

Do you honestly believe he's not worth more?

Similar/Worse defenders have gone for more.

David Luiz - €25m
Joleon Lescott - £22m
Laurent Koscielny - £9m
Per Mertesacker - £8m
Sebastien Bassong £8m
Fabricio Coloccini - £10m

I think Samba is a very good player but a guy that has basically been in a relegation battles for most his career with Blackburn hardly warrants a huge price tag. Like i said, 8/9 mil tops but he ain't worth anymore than that

"a guy that has basically been in a relegation battles for most his career with Blackburn"

You mean apart from when we finished 7th and 10th in his first two seasons with us?

What would you rate your current CB's at?

Congrats for stupid comment of the day award. Samba should be single handedly propelling us to the Premier League title and then he may be worth a little more?...

If you applied a bit of gumption and considered the level of achievement required for a central defender to stand out at both ends of the pitch in a badly struggling side such as the Rovers, then you might understand why your club are bidding for him. If understanding his abilities, you would then be aware he is worth the going rate for a top rank centre half, at the peak of his career and power, who causes chaos against all we play and as Rovers fans will readily testify, has been one of the divisions stand out players this season.

If Lescott is worth 22 million... then Samba is worth at least 15, working on the basis tha everytime City pay 20 million they get ripped off by at least 7 of it. Ask yourself why PSG, QPR and Spurs are reportedly all interested and others are monitoring the situation as well? Is anything sinking in yet?

It's dead simple, if you can't afford him then jog on. Personally it tells me all you need to know about Spurs and their fake title ambitions. They will probably sell Modric instead and not buy anyone. Harry will say it was 'triffic' business and the top six is an amazing achievement for a club of their limited size and support.

SKA :

Levy told us the one reason we are doing that is so that you will upgrade from "affiliate" member to full Spurs 606.

posted on 12/1/12

Would not like to get him like that.
In a RDBD world, we would buy him now, keep at yours to get you out of relegation, then take him for next season.

But sadly, Ledley and Gallas are crocks, Caulker is on loan, and Bassong is no plan B for where Spurs want to be.

Spurs paid £8 million for Bassong who was a flop. If they want one of the most highly rated and consistent defenders in the league then they’ll have to pay top money. It’s not like he’s in his last year of his contract on anything. I wouldn’t want us to sell him but if we were than I’d be expecting at least £14-15m.

No one seems to have posted that Samba has given an interview to L'quipe saying he wants to leave. So I will

" fake title ambitions" ......I would say being 3 points behind Manchester City in the middle of Jan is hardly fake ambition is it ...Anyway, us spurs fans are not to confident of a title push anyway. It's not our fault the media and everyone else is A ss licking our excellent team.........anyway onto the actual subject because you went off on a massive rant about other things........Samba is not worth 14/15 mil regardless of what you Rovers fans think. He's a very good player but your over valuation of him is pathetic. If the guy was 23 then maybe but he's not. 7.5mil, maybe a little more.......if you don't like it then balls to you, you won't get an offer better than that

Pathetic - bit harsh no? Is paying £8m for Bassong pathetic business by Spurs then? Samba is our captain. He has contributed enormously over many seasons and is a seasoned PL quality centre back with some extra qualities. Who knows what any player is worth in this crazy mixed up times (especially with the Jan window around). He may not be 'worth' that but when you measure his quality against finishing in the top four or not getting relegated (both of which he would contribute too), his 'worth' is accordingly different. Regardless however, whether the fans like it or not, it will have nothing to do with us but only the VenKean evil.

Can't wish Spurs fans luck - too many mates supporting them (from Hertfordshire obviously) but you're breaking up the top four in a good way this season. Come on, unwind your neck and join the Venkean hate carnival.
