From Samba:

"I’ve always put the interests of the club before my own. I’ve invested a lot, always tried to lead by example, but things have not gone as I was told. I hope people will understand me."

You can't blame him for wanting to leave, but I'd rather he go too PSG than to Spurs or QPR.

I think it would be like seeing an ex going out with your friend if he had either shirt on

Samba...

This speaks volumes about were we are heading though,,QPR a relegation candidate and we may sell him to them. i was speaking to Samba one morning when i as down at the store he was making his way to the coach that takes them to training,,what a great bloke he is good to talk to as well,,he says he has seen all this coming last summer and he reckons it will get worse.

I'm sorry, but which centre half at Spurs is better than Samba?

Oh please diomand dust, Ledley King is by a country mile mate.....even if he has got 1 knee.....

@ jack walker, good points and you seem to rate him really highly

I think Samba is a fantastic backs to the wall defender, and perversely he is at his best when we are struggling. However I do feel that when he is more inactive defensively in games and has the ball at his feet more often, he is liable to make errors that cost goals. Personally I'm not sure how he'd fit into a top of the table team.

OOJW - surely Kompany is the best centre back in the league?

Don - Ledley King?

I nearly spat my brew out.

posted on 12/1/12

To be fair, I agree that a fit Ledley King is a lot better than Samba.

Although Spurs fans should remember that a fit Ledley King would have left Spurs a long time ago!

Samba is a great defender and will always cause trouble in the opposition penalty area from set pieces. Look out for opposition goalkeepers running into him though as that seems to be classed as a foul nowadays.

Yeah good shout Lobo. Kompany is a top player and I rate him very highly. I forgot about him as I was laughing too much at 22 million for Lescot...

diamond dust You obviously know SWEET FA about football because you clearly know nothing if you think Samba is better than Ledley King ....Please stop embarassing yourself, if it weren't for kings injuries he would be one of Europes best centre backs and 99% of other fans would agree with me.......samba don't even fit in that category regardless of how good of a prem defender he is.

posted on 12/1/12

but equally, if you asked me who I'd rather have at Rovers, King or Samba, I'd take Samba. Because being fit to play is actually quite important.

posted on 12/1/12

Yeh i agree but i still would say Ledley King is miles better even with dodgy knees and a horrible injury record

Skybet has got Samba as 5/6 to join Spurs and Hoillet at 1/2.

Still irks me how a company that has a news channel that reports on transfer rumours can also take bets on them.

posted on 12/1/12

@ wilsbowski, i'm not to great on the betting side of things.....what's this mean? Does it mean it's very likey both samba and hoillet will join spurs?

posted on 12/1/12

QPR are favourites to sign Samba, Spurs are favourites to sign Hoilett.

posted on 12/1/12

oh ok, i question the ambitions of Samba if he decided to go from Blackburn to QPR ....Can't see it unless no other club is interested in him. If spurs go in for him then no way would he go Qpr if he was actually as ambitious as his interview said today

Say the odds were 2/1

If you bet £1 you would get £2 back (plus the £1 you bet)

If the odds were 1/2

If you bet £1 you would get 50p back (plus your £1 bet)

If the odds were 5/6

If you bet £1 you would get 83p back (I think, I'm not an expert myself!) (plus your £1 bet)

Don, I don't wish to get into an argument, not least on a football forum from behind a computer monitor and keyboard. We're all here for good healthy debate with a side of banter.

The main reason I hold Samba in higher regard than I do King (whom I regard as an excellent defender by the way) is purely down to game time. Ledley's injury record speaks for itself. You Spurs fans know all about almost-always injured players having had Woodgate (another class act when fit) at the club.

Despite our obvious disagreement which I'm happy with as we're entitled to opinions - I do like to think I know a little more than sweet FA about football. A few England caps, a healthy ability to play Football Manager and being at a top six club does not make King automatically a better player than Samba. Opinions however will vary.

What I will add though, on a more positively warming note is that he would be an excellent addition to your squad and should improve your defence as a whole and thus boost your charge to upset the two Manchester clubs at the top.

And very good luck doing that - it would be very nice to see.

Wils, you'd win 17p not 83p.

King better than Samba? Thats a good one, tell us another.

posted on 12/1/12

diamond dust, fair enough But we will agree to disagree, King is a legend down here so were a bit touchy on that subject

"Wils, you'd win 17p not 83p."

I'm with Wilsbowski on this one, I reckon it's 83p plus your quid back.

Anyway, Steve Kean has confirmed that Rovers rejected two bids last week from an unnamed club.
