Going by the shambles that is our physio team so far this year, early reports will say he's out for 2 weeks, then extended to 6 weeks, followed by another 6 weeks, finally to "he'll be back some time next season...probably".
lets hope hes ok for Arsenal, but agreed with your post
I've been saying for a long time now that this lad is going to be BIG.... he has everything a striker needs.
Great to see a local lad do so well... and about time our academy came through with a striker.
He's been brillinant. He's brilliant for rooney aswell. With berbatov he has to play forward, with hernandez he has to drop back but welbeck is nearly as versatile as wayne so they both roam around and it makes us far more unpredictable.
I'll just add at one point ferdinand missed a tackle but who was there to mop up?
Please tell me Welbeck isn't out for two weeks ??? That will no doubt be extended to over a month with our joke medical staff.
Absolutely love him. I have so much respect for the way he's come back from his loan and displaced two of the league's leading strikers last season.
I'm hoping he was just taken off as a precaution, because losing him would be a massive blow. I think people underestimate just how important he is to our attacking play.
I don't underestimate anything about Welbeck, I saw lots of him in youth and always was impressed with him. I did wonder if he could bring that to first team but the Sunderland move made him a man.
I hope he's not injured as for me he's one of our top players already.
Another thing is.. how good is it for england to have there two best strikers at the same club, forging a top class partnership?
On that note, when fit united can easily field 7 england internationals (without scholes).

For some reason, I can stil see Darren Bent getting the nod ahead of him.
I was hoping he was going to take the penalty. I think it would improve his confidence by improving his goal tally, and feel an important part of the side for being given the responsibility.
If Bent gets nod ahead of Welbeck then Fabio is the most clueless manager of all time.
Agree great prospect !
Rooney if in top form would have helped himself to a hattrick today. Something is not right with him still. Maybe sulking but his body language gives everything away with him.
Rooney looked fine today, he was gutted to miss pen (or have it saved) I think it bothered him.

what you on about fella..... andy carroll plays for liverpool
The manager has a bit of a selection dilemma ahead of the Arsenal game I feel.
Do we play 4-4-1-1 and play with Rooney and Welbeck together or do we go with the extra midfielder and play 4-5-1 with Rooney up top.
We all know what happened last season at the Emirates when we played 4-4-1-1 against Arsenal. We hardly got a touch of the ball. Do we drop Welbeck who's in great form at the moment or do we play him on the left of a 4-5-1/4-3-3 and maybe sacrifice Nani who's not been playing well lately?
I think if we do play 4-5-1, Scholes has to start for me because we need someone to keep hold of the ball.
A midfield of Carrick, Scholes and Jones or Anderson maybe?
Rafael at right back, Ferdinand and Evans in central defence and Evra picks himself.
Valencia on the right, Nani or Welbeck on the left and Rooney up top on his own.
Nani has to play against Arsenal on the right. He destroys them pretty much whenever he plays them.
Usually, Fergie would go with 451 at the Emirates, the problem we have is that we don't have any fit cm's.
Carrick is the only one who is fit enough for a match against Arsenal.
If we go to Arsenal with Scholes from the start we will get beaten. We should play Anderson, Jones and Carrick.
Then Rooney Welbeck and Valencia.
I remember when there was debate on who was better, him of macheda. I always said he was the more complete player.
This is what depresses me about morisson. At this level, welbeck was not at good. Whatever his problems are, playing football will help him focus his energy on the right things. Not all young ones are matured like the becks and scholes. Even welbeck had some problems growing up. Fergie does not seem to handle youngsters of these times. If fergie had a balotelli or a roy keane at a young age he won't be able handle them like before.
"Do we drop Welbeck who's in great form at the moment or do we play him on the left of a 4-5-1/4-3-3 and maybe sacrifice Nani who's not been playing well lately?"
Drop Rooney, he was complete toilet today.

That's if Jones and Anderson are both available to play.
I agree with your front line.
Mind you Welbeck might be out for a while !! Anyone know yet ???
He should be fine for Arsenal.
