Sir Digby, they're not THAT easy to carry out. And they run a risk of being caught as, assuming they use a program like the LOIC (low orbit ion cannon, it's not really that but that's the name) then it's really easy to be caught. If they're using a botnet then they must have built it up over time and why would they use it on this.

It's probably an attempt to gain login email addresses and passwords imo, for spam and attempted fraud. Good to know the site's secure for now - cheers for the update admin.
Ah of course. I'm surprised that didn't occur to me. What servers are these forums based on Admin1?
It's strange how the Internet has aquired some military connotations by the way. It can now be used as a weapon against business or political rivals. No surprise governments and corporations want to have more control over it, thus things like ACTA being passed.

Ah ok.thanks admin......you truly do look after us,as if we were your own........
The internet has been invaded in a way by companies who sought to monetise it. Which is great and all, but it really sucks when they then decide they want to rule it. Regulating the internet is wrong. It just is.

rannaramshere (U1182) - We are on the same server hardware as Groupon. I spent 30 mins on a conference call with multiple other tech guys in our data centre definitely DDoS attacks.
I blame Al Queda. You should be worried.
But of course there are ways to voluntarily give up the use of your PC for the same purposes of a botnet. Don't do that, even if you agree on the cause.
People in ddos attacks usually have motive. Maybe a user/users on rival sites are coordinating the attacks?
Damn hackers sitting in thier mommys basement.
Thanks Himoz.
Any reason why someone would want to target a site like this?
