I haven't heard the chants, but if if what you're insinuating is happening then you're absolutely correct. Double standards.
"He looks like a chimp, he looks like a chiiiiimp, Gareth Bale, he looks like a chimp"
That one. Mainly sung in the first half.
He actually looks like a chimp though, they're not calling a chimp purely based on the colour of his skin. Not the same thing at all.
In my view it's no more insulting calling someone black or whatever, than calling them a chimp
Physical appearance is unique race and the mocking of someone because of their race are two completely different things
because one is racism, and one is not
they were a bit mouthy today.. must of been some ch-avs in the home end
He does look like a chimp though...in the same way Emile Heskey looks like Eeyore or Wayne Rooney looks like Shrek. Not racist, just factual.
So why is racism any worse than heightism, sexism, or indeed chimpism?
In my view they are all disgusting
They all sounded like southerners laaaaaaavly
Stevenage's pitch is shi te. Can't wait to give them a deserving hiding at the Lane. How can you play football on a terrible surface like that? Are you Wimbeldon wannabes..
so, technically why is it a different rule for mocking someones physical features (regardless of what they are) than to mocking somebodies physical feature if its skin colour.
Im ot agreeing or disagreeing, just dont get the difference
yeh and you prob look like a northern monkey
Calling someone a fat c is obviously not as serious as calling somebody a black c
I'm sorry but I fail to see the argument that it's OK to mock a white person that looks like a chimp, but not a black person.
If that isn't a raging example of double standards, I don't know what is; The entire point of my original post.

There is no law about making fun of somebody's physical appearance. Fat/skinny/tall/short etc. that's what the song was, a reference to his physical appearance.

Because Bale looks like a chimp. That's a big different to saying all black people look like chimps. If you can't notice the distinction you're a bit dim.

So would you hold the same view if they were singing the same chant at Defo?
