Sure NIreland have been picking English born players for years!! Maik Taylor ffs was born in Germany and has no parentage connection whatsoever to the North!!
I think he qualified for them because he watched a documentary about the Giants Causeway on Discovery Channel !!

If our small country can get in players who are proud to play for us, then that's what we should do. Can't believe we missed out on Lee Hughes when he was decent.

The reason players are choosing the Republic over us in my opinion is for two reasons, firstly the treatment of Neil Lennon when he signed for Celtic. This leads any Catholic players, to believe that they may be abused.

The second reason is simply they are a better team. So if we can get a few players in to improve us, that will encourage others not to switch alligence.

I though most people wouldn't play for the occupied six, as they wanted to play International Football.
Imagine going on holidays and meeting footballers and said you played for N.I., laughter all round.

Why all the hostility Bankrupt? Sure we're all Irishmen and comrades all? Better to have friends than make enemies?
I know my cousins in Australia haven't set foot in Belfast but are proud of their heritage.

Poor ould Michael O'Neill! I'd say he's just starting to realise what he's let himself in dmfor! Thrashed 3-0 at home to Norway in his first match in charge!

posted on 1/3/12

To be fair Norway scored 2 goals late on but the old saying "you are what you are" must hit home when Micky O puts his head on his pillow tonight?
Contrast that with the scenes in Dublin, great fightback back!!!! and the ovation James McClean got must have been heard in IFA headquarters?
They face a tough uphill task and to be fair to them they are paying the price for their predesessors. They have tried hard to eliminate the various loyalist trappings that had glomed onto Northern Ireland football but the horse has left the barn and it will take quite some time to recapature that horse(sorry for the metaphors and can someone explain them to that chap Bankrupt because it seems his primitive dialogue stops after lol) but as a Northern lad who follows Ireland I must commend the IFA for spotting a problem and addressing it albeit 30 years too late.

You need to stop taking yourself and your views so seriously! Views which have nothing to actually do with Football but more to do with defending and talking up your particular sense of tribalism!

That's the best you can come up with in a debate? You really must try harder, as all you're doing is making yourself look like an idiot. Definitely my first impression is that, you have daily runs in those 'special' yellow buses.

Now if you don't have anything to add to a debate, then don't reply to my comments. It is obvious what they article is about, so comment on the article and not the typical cliches and 'us against them' attitude.
