West Ham v Doncaster Rovers - Match Thread

Thanks, as always, for your comments. Maybe like many fans I'm taking too much of a lift from the Nottingham game and I'm expecting too much on Saturday. It would be great taking something from the Hammers, but we have more important "6 pointers" coming up. I've had two dreams about Saturday - one we sneak it 2-1, the other I do not want to think about! Maybe there is something in the water - or wine - on the left coast of the USA.
As a Rovers fan and closet Saints fan (except against the Rovers), I look forward to a win!

I am not taken too much from the Forest game except at last (and about time too) we beat a side that was there to be beaten.

The win was welcome but we're still deep in the woods. Let's hope Hansel has left his trail of white pebbles to help us get out and not the breadcrumbs.

(Jeez I'm getting literary and surreal in my old age)

West Ham's home form has been average for a team chasing promotion to the Premiership. Only on a few odd occasions have we played well at home. There is chronic complacency and lack of passion. This has even been acknowledged by one of our players after the latest Upton Park draw (Watford on Wednesday).

Thus, unfortunately, I can only expect there'll be even more complacency and rubbish come tomorrow. Either 1-0 to West Ham, or 1-1.

I'll take 1-1.

I'd take a draw, as much as we need all 3 points. There's been a few too many false dawns this season but I'll live in hope.

1-1 - a score both teams are capable of.

West Ham will win this game quite easily to give a helping hand to Posh... but will they get anything out from tangerines at home?

When we were playing well and were not getting results you felt that we were really going to put a hatful past some unfortunate team and we did, but never at home. Thumping wins were a treat reserved for the away supporter and always at some distant location. I was one of those delighted at Bristol, Ipswich and Crystal Palace and I also came away from Southampton and Charlton smiling broadly whereas when I trekked up north it was usually a grinding nail biting ordeal at the Keepmoat.

In just the same way as we lost at home to Plymouth Argyle, Charlton, Barnsley, to name but a few, so we have the relatively mighty West Ham, clearly more talented than we ever were, toiling away at home whilst cruising gracefully to a regular 3 points away.

And here they are, at best only forecasting a narrow victory (or even a draw) against ourselves, the most generous of comeback facilitators in the whole of the football league.

Can this trend continue? Can they really only have drawn against or beaten most of our fellow strugglers by the odd goal? It all seems very difficult to believe. Will the floodgates of true class remain firmly shut or could we be about to drown in the retribution due to all those in the bottom half of the Table who have miraculously survived at the Boleyn hitherto?

I shall be there and prepared for anything. I do not believe we are capable of playing defensively effectively against such a strong side, so we will have to do the opposite. So we may well see a good match which we will lose, but not too heavily I hope. Of course any kind of win or a draw would send me home happy with bragging rights secured for the rest of the season, but no, I still can't convince myself.

Good morning

Nice to see a settled side apart from Bagayoko for Piqquionne. Even four of the subs are the same except Ilunga for Gillett as cover for Spurr. Pity for Gillett, he's been playing well, but you have to cover like for like against a top of the table side. I think we stand a chance and am going for 1-0 to Rovers.

Forget my comment, I was looking at the list I wrote and I missed Gillett off the starting line up. Just checked Mafie Boy and found that Simon does play. It's early over here!!!!!

Coventry have given up two points at home to Birmingham. That result has gone for us.
